There is no doubting a Canadian (Oz) when it comes to snow knowledge... However, for an All Terrain Tire that does so well in sand and mud and highway quiet... I was VERY impressed with the Hankook Dynapro ATM in snow... Here are photos of our snow run and I never got slowed or stuck... of course, I am in an Off Road TRD with A-TRAC and locker... but the tires self cleaned great, and never spun... Now, this isn't as deep as most of you will have, but this is San Diego, California... and that is about all we get to play in!

I've run a dedicated snow tire on my car for 3 years here in Michigan and I have to agree. If you want snow performance ("need" snow performance) you can't beat a dedicated winter tire. I used General Altimax Arctics and loved them. I think they stopped making them though which makes my decision a bit hard.

I'm probably going to end up doing the same thing as the OP and getting an AT that will fit my needs for both summer and winter driving. Leaning towards Duratracs right now but with the limited offroad use I may end up with Michelin MS2s

Oh I know, I've learned to just not doubt him. I've only gotten like 4 months of winter on my Dynapro's, and I had absolutely no problem with them, but then it was a pretty mild winter. I would agree with most that if you want snow performance, get a snow tire.

My current tires (Toyo Open Country AT2 - Load Range C) were great in the snow this past winter (100+ inches of snow here in Maine). And my previous set of General Grabber AT2 (P rated) were equally as good in previous winters. I've lived in Maine my entire life and have never felt the need, nor run a dedicated winter tire.

quite honestly the stock dunlops were better in the snow than the cooper AT3. I hate these tires and are the worst tires ive had for snow use

Not exactly snow driving when you can still see the dirt , lol

To clarify , my experience with the ATm's is usually in really wet , slushy coastal snow and I find that the tread blocks tend to pack and not clear , my Hankook MT's were better

Having said that , they are definitely better than the Dunlops were

I agree Oz, but that's a big deal in San Diego County! LOL
