I live on the beautiful wet... err... west coast of British Columbia. Rain traction is very important to me. I picked up Toyo Open Country AT III's earlier this year. I have been very happy with the wet traction of these tires. I have driven confidently at 125km/h in a pretty good rain. No hydroplaning or slippery, greasy feeling that I have experienced with other AT's. I definitely recommend them.

I live on the beautiful east coast of Newfoundland. lol. Same experience as Speedfreak with my Toyo ATIIIs. Although maybe not at 125 clicks but no hydroplaning at 110 km/hr on the highway. I'd recommned them also. Great fuel mileage also. Same as OEM Firestones - maybe 0.5 L/100 difference.

Another vote for the Wild Peaks. I paid around 230 each for mine. That was a lot more than the last time I had purchased them a couple years back. Still worth it since the only thing touching the ground is a patch of rubber a few cubic inches wide at a time. Since it rains a lot in the winter in PNW I feel a few extra dollars is cheap insurance for a human life.

Gonna be the odd man out and recommend Cooper's. The Discoverer AT3 4S on my truck do excellent in the rain. This is the second Tacoma I've had them on and they do well.

I have these as well and recommend them. If you can catch them on sale, it is a good buy for wet weather performance. I even changed out my spare to them as I plan on running them on my next set as well. Excellent snow performance as well.

I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers, and I love them. They look awesome and beefy. They've been great on mild trails for camping. However, I've also noticed that they start slipping at the slightest touch of water. I'm not even talking rain or sprinkling here. I'm talking about a small puddle the back tires hit, and boom, you can essentially spin the tires. Again, I love them, but I would not recommend them for anyone that plans to drive in the rain. One time during a weekend cabin getaway, I parked my truck on a seemingly flat but icy/snowy driveway and the truck just started sliding even with parking brake engaged.

I have these also and they have been great in the rain. Much better than the stock Wranglers that were on it.

It's not the Nitto Ridge Grappler. I've easily gotten them sideways on wet pavement without being terribly boisterous, though the open rear diff doesn't do them any favors. It's not like the hydroplane or anything like that, they just release a little easier than I'd really like.

Additionally, in snow they "work", but they aren't confidence inspiring like my Bridgestone Blizzaks are.

Which route? I have driven 1 and 99 alot and you can barely make 100 due to traffic on 2 lane roads

Just to second another post, I’m a fan of the BFG KO2s but they aren’t the best for rain. They have done well for snow though. I’m not currently rocking them but I plan to go that route once I upgrade tires. They came on my last jeep and I never had any issues with them.

There are times when you don't have the typical horrible traffic along the #1, typically I am traveling west bound from Langley to Vancouver. The 99 isn't as easy, too much traffic.

If wet conditions are your top priority go with Michlin LTX M/S, everything else is going to have compromises.

Those have been the worst tire in rain for me personally. I actually took them off early to get a decent grip rain tire.
I've probably bought 40 sets of tires in my driving career.

I'd be looking at something with circumferential grooves and high angle or zigzag siping.

Michelins for sure. But after 1 year and a few atmospheric rivers last year and like @Speedfreak mentioned our rainy climate, I’ve been very happy with my first A/T tire after years of Michelins. Toyo’s Open Country AT3’s.

2nd week of September, we ran into the tail end of a freak mountain storm on the East Side of Manning Park heading west. Just where 2 lanes opens up to 4. I accelerated up to 110kmh not realizing that the road ahead was covered in 2-3” of water running across the highway due to a swollen overflowing creek. Hit the water at full speed and suddenly realized what had just happened. Gently applied the brakes and used momentum to get me through without loosing control. The Toyo’s kept me on the road. Fortunately there was no one else around. We continued on and 45 minutes later we were in the eye of the storm. Downpours so hard people we pulling over and wipers on the fastest setting could barely keep up. Putted along at 30 kmh and felt safe and secure again despite the wife’s freaking out for a second time. 10 minutes we were out of the storm. 40 minutes later hot sunny weather.

After extreme drought here, just made my way home from work this afternoon in monsoon conditions and complete traffic chaos.

So yeah, very impressed with my Toyo’s wet weather performance so far.

Another vote of Michelin LTX AT/2 as the best tire in the rain.

The K02 is OK, at best, in the rain. Looks good though.

Have not experienced rain with my most recent tire - AT3W Falkens.
