How about the odometer? Is there enough of a change to make a measureable difference?

Just quick math, going from a 70 to 75 series tire, each displayed mile will be about 65' short. It isn't significant but it's something. Each 300 mile tank of gas will display about 3.5 miles short. Probably not enough to throw off the MPG calculations.

My calculated highway mpg for my LT265/70R17 LrE KO3 to be 22.6mpg. very close to stock tires setup of 23-24mpg.

if you keep the stock tire size, some configuration of 265/70/R17 or 265/75/R16 etc., you will see close to stock MPG even with an A/T tire. I recommend the Toyo AT3s. I was also happy with the Maxxis Razrs that I had before.

Toyo AT3 on Method wheels. Same size as stock but a little wider. Averaging 20 with current exhaust. Very surefooted in the rain and snow. Quiet on the highway still at 20k miles on em

285 75r16 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT D-rated here. After swapping out Nitto RG same size and rating I went from 17 mpg to 19. The Coopers are whisper quiet in comparison. The truck felt like it gained 50 hp. Nitto's look amazing but they are heavy. I got 45k out of them though.

If the speedo is reading more correctly, the odo will be more accurate. Usually in stock form, most autos show they are going 2 mph faster than they are (in my experience). With that, the odo will show more miles than you actually have. Both are very small percentages but, in the long run, it all adds up.

On my Tacoma, I am just about perfect with the gps, and the signs with radar showing speed on the side of the road. On my Sierra 2500, I went with a taller tire. In stock size I was showing 1.5-2 mph slower than the odo showed, after upgrading tire size, I am now 2.5-3 mph faster than what the speedo shows, that in turn, shows a small percentage less on the odo. Better for resale ;) but, I have to watch what I set the cruise at, so I dont get burned going faster than the posted limits. Ski

Has anyone looked at the Nexen Rodian ATPro RA8 265/75R16 116 tires? I have had a set of these on my 2000 Pathfinder for two yrs. Load range “E” mind you. But, these have barely worn anything. I am considering similar for my 2023. I use this Pathy for hunting, I off-roading and daily driving. Granted it’s t is not a Tacoma. What think you all? MTG

Thanks to your posts I'm seriously considering going to a 75 series when it's time to replace the OEM Wranglers. Did some looking and Toyo Open Country in 75 is listed as a hair lighter than the 70 series on Discount Tire and Toyo's website. Something's off.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. I know Toyo shows the non white lettered versions to be lighter than the white lettered versions, by a pound or 2. Also, look at the first number in the tire (width) make sure that is the same as the tire you you are comparing to. Also look at load index, speed rating, ply's etc... If these are not the exact same, to each tire you are comparing to, with the only difference being the second set of numbers (aspect ratio), you are not comparing apples to apples. Ski

You're right, I must've done something different earlier. Tried finding it again to share a screen shot and the numbers made sense. Got a few thousand more miles to go on these Wranglers but I'm looking forward to giving these Toyo AT's a try in a 75 series.

Well I just filled my tank today. 330 miles and it took 16.23 gallons of gas, so 20.33 mpg. Still not bad for AT tires and a lift.

I have bfg trail terrains it’s a in between tire not quiet a at tire but not a street tire .I find the at tires to be noisy on the highway and don’t get the best mpg . The bfg met both my needs for light off road and street use been very happy with them . Avg 21 -24 mpg

Michelin LTX MS are great for some roading, snow and very quiet on the highways. Love them. I am at 40,000 km and the tread still looks new. Very well built tires will get another set whenever these need to be replaced.

Falken AT3W's here. 285/70R17 in 10ply. Fully armored and camp ready. I clocked 17.5 mpg coming back from an appt yesterday. I'm tuned and re-geared though too.
