Best Beefy Ball Mount for TRD Sport

Which ball mount are you guys rolling around with? Needs to be functional, but rarely towing a trailer of any sort. Just want a beefy ball mount hanging off the backend for looks.

This is the style I’ve seen that looks good IMO:

Just me, but if I saw that ball mount on anything less than a 3/4 ton I would know that person rarely tows anything.
Most people remove the ball mount as a courtesy when they are not towing.

really the hitch isn’t rated for anything heavier than a standard $50 ball mount

 

Is this a real thing?

If you don’t tow then don’t have a ball in the hitch. Your shins will thank you and if you get rear ended your frame will thank you when it doesn’t get bent as easily.

I don’t get it, but if that’s what you want, go for it. You could get a bumper step or something. Or a shackle receiver. Or a big pair of bull balls dangling down

 

I could find a number of things to blow $315 on for nothing but looks.

Looks good! I like the hook.

 

Also, it will give the truck a levelled look. 2 birds, one stone.

 

Something just as effective and less likely to destroy your shin would be a pair of rubber truck nuts.

 

I did the harbor freight shackle for $27.99

I figure if I get stuck it will serve a function at that point. It’s a solid piece of kit and cheap compared to others…

 

Look dude, nobody is going to believe you are a real man unless you level way up.** Forget about a weeensy little ball mount. You need a 5th-wheel hitch. One of these bad boys. Spray paint it bright yellow and remove the tailgate to be sure everyone sees what's up.

Pintle hitch already on my surplus HMMWV need something more refined for the Tacoma.

 

None.

My ball mount is in my storage compartment.

 

Need to add bigger fender flares like on the GMC.

 

That's a start but if he really wants to be recognized as a real man this is probably required. Note: driver / passenger-side access ladders not included. This beauty looks like it has seen hard mall parking lot duty for months. Probably never touched dirt.
