Best bolt-on "sliders" (steps) for under $500?

    If you don’t go wheeling then get steps and not sliders. Sliders are seriously heavy compared to some nice aluminum steps. I went with OEM aluminum rubbing boards and love them. Great looking, kids use them to get in and out and very light.

    I have considered getting some kind of steps mosty so I don't get door dings. But I would maybe do some very moderate off road driving at sometime and don't want anything low.

    Do steps actually stop door dings? They don't really stick out far past the widest part of the door. As well the offending door hits with the widest part of a curved door as well.
    They wouldn't provide any protection from a rear door on a car.

    I just checked my two trucks together...steps or sliders wouldn't prevent a door ding. Maybe it might from a lower car.

    Only from a car not really other trucks. I had them on my Jeep and whilst sitting in it some fool swung a car door in to it. it messed up his door and he wanted to cry about it. I just park way out now
