We have a 2008 Tacoma TRD sport king cab, long box. We have had a right rear leaf spring break 2x in the last 4 mos. We are wondering if this could be due to the shocks being worn. We have 135,000 km/\90,000. miles on vehicle. We do tow a horse trailer, 2 horse aluminium, only about 4-5 times a year. We have anti sway bars and an excellent hitch. The leaf broke both times while not towing. Our roads can be rough but try to avoid pot holes at all costs but not always possible. We drive highway most of the time and lesser paved highways. We have talked to two garages, one a truck repair who did both leaf springs, and our toyota dealer says our shocks should be fine. We notice the odd right rear mild thump if going over uneven roads, and the rear end feels a little jittery |(unstable) while cornering or while hitting small bumps. It was not like this before. The parts person at Toyota says we should put more weight in the back, we have 2 sand bags, one each side at present. Should we put more weight. We have looked after this truck and never off road it. \if it is a shock issue, what brand do you recommend and what is the procedure for replacing. Does the truck need to be jacked up et.c We were also told that Tacoma's are notorious for having leaf spring issues. Thank you for any help you can give us.l

I know this is an older thread but just discovered one spring on one side is broken in three places and making a wicked racket. I have the standard 3 in 1 pack that came with the truck. I am considering your advice but just making sure it would be the recommendation for my truck as well, 07' Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 TRD. The folks at Wheelers Off Road are great to work with so probably will buy them there as you recommend.

    2.5" Toytec lift
Hey guys, i have an 08 Tacoma with a 2.5" lift (1.5" Blocks in the back and 2.5" spacers in the front). Was wondering if you had any recommendations as to what kind of rear shocks i should put in, my stock ones are wearing out so its time to make a change.
