I wouldn't go near a best buy install shop. They gummed up an xmradio adapter I wanted a while back. Circuit shitty was no better. If your gut tells you it's not a good shop, keep on walking.

get it done by a custom shop and have them bury the alarm brain up behind the gauge cluster (theres a ton of room up there) and you can run your wires across and drop em down right where you need to tag wires so theres nothing for a thief to cut or even see..I've had 3 tacos and ive done them all this way...nice and clean...

I say just DIY. Learn something new about your truck and pretty cool to say you did it yourself. I can almost guarantee you'll be much happier and not worried if something is f'd up because you know its done right and not by some jack off teenager that wired your truck together that you work hard to pay for. As far as "custom" shops, most of them are "custom" because they customize your car with low grade parts after they have removed your functioning quality ones haha. Just my disgruntled .02

I used to run the install bay at a best buy for a few years...They will stand behind their work for the most part but make sure you have someone who knows what they're doing. I had a couple of employees(hired by management)that didn't know shit about 12volt systems and saw them fuck up plenty of customer cars. Not that I wasn't doing good work when I worked there but I def put more effort into my customers cars for my own company. The people at BB don't care as much because it's best buys name on the install, not their own. Just my .02

There has never been a more wrong statement.

It was CC that put CC out of business.

I used to work for them way back when they paid commission. You were encouraged to sell, everything had to be spotless and cords had to be tie wrapped behind all the displays. It took us at least 45 mins every night to straighten up the store before we left. And they actually trained us on the new products so we could sell them...Then of course the fired us for making too much money, but other than that they were a great store.

You walk in a CC right before they went under, it was a mess. Nobody would help you, the store looked like trash. It was terrible. Nobody knew anything about anything.

That's a fact kris77. Good friend of mine worked @ CC and got out before they started letting people go for making too much $'s. He could see the hand writing on the wall.

yep circuit city put themselves out of business. There were a series of bad business decisions made over the last 10 years that cased their demise. A few of the major straws were their decision to fire all the experienced commissioned workers and bring in hourly teenagers who don't know shit. Another major bad decision was their decision to buy C grade real estate thinking they would be a destination retailer (people come to them no matter where they are). They also signed long term leases on the buildings which kept them having to pay leases on buildings that were vacant when they had to move to A grade real estate to compete with best buy. Circuit city also used to be a holding company, the owned lots of real-estate, carmax, and a few other small companies. They decided to sell them off which was a bad decision. They didn't have many hard assets as collateral when it came time to pay off the creditors.

My boss worked for circuit city for 14 years. He was the director of Asset protection (LP) until the last day. He was one of the last to leave. I did all of the Fraud analytics and large investigations for the circuit city credit card portfolio through Chase. When circuit went under Chase let me and our whole site go since we had no more work. Circuit city was the largest private label credit portfolio chase had. About 700 people handled the support for that card portfolio. That was a sad day last january when they made the decision to close the doors. I knew a lot of people at CC corporate.

It depends on the store... I have worked for both CC and BB. And have been at 4 stores total. I only had them install mine because I knew how long the guy has been doing it for. But, most of the time, the guys know what they are doing. I have a few friends that have tats and look young, but they know a lot more than I do about cars. If it is a legit store, they don't just hire anyone for car installs. Don't be so quick to judge ;)

Esentially it boils down to a 50/50 crap shoot. Some stores have lagit people working for them and others have windowlickers. Best thing to do is just check them out before the work is being done. Good luck, I'm in the same boat

agreed. Go up there and just talk to the installer. I can usually tell pretty quick whether or not he knows his shit. Although you have to know your shit before you can tell if someone else does. :D

CC did, in fact, have huge issues with mismanagement. I don't dispute that but you clearly missed the general nature of my statement. Who is still alive in that business sector? Obviously BB won that battle.

Glad it worked out. I personally couldnt care less about the failure of a turd like CC. My investment portfolio would never include such garbage.
