Wide rides shotgun, baby/kids in the back. Only spot left is the bed for the dog.

I have the Leer XR cap with a the dog screens over the windows so they can't poke out the normal screens. Also have the BedRug installed. I still use a rubber mat on top of the BedRug just because it is so much easier to clean up after a muddy run with the mutts.

i am not sure about other regions, but around here leer is the main topper brand that is stocked at resellers in town. others can be ordered but the markup is outrageous. i was looking at getting a snug-top because they can be locked from the inside, but driving 4 hours one way to st. louis is probably going to force me to stick with a leer.

great thread by the way. i'm not big on dogs in the bed, even with a topper. but now that i am up to 4 dogs there isn't room in the cab for more than two of them at a time. it can be done, but it is far from safe. when i finally find the topper i want they will be in the back in strapped down kennels.

because she's more comfortable back there.

I do like having her in the cab, but for 1 I don't want her going through the windshield, and in the box, she can stand and not fall over on the curves.
and she can lay down on her mat back there.

I agree, plus the fact that my last truck turned into a kennel on wheels after 4 years of pooch wear. This is not going to happen to my Taco....

i hate to say it, but it's safer. like most "kids" after being in the car so long they get bored and start to bicker. it's no fun trying to drive and correct them when they all want to sit on my lap. yes, dogs on a drivers lap should be considered a dui.

In Omaha if your dog is riding in the bed of the truck you get a traffic ticket, this all started when these red neck flat bed towing companys had a dog riding on the flat bed un leashed dangerous for the dog and traffic.

If i'm driving around town or leaving the lake, usually both my Golden's are in the bed loose.

When i'm on the highway though, i always put them in the cab. I have a platform made up for them so it helps with the mess and catches the hair in the fabric as well.

Snugtop XV, handsdown. Sliding windows and sliding screens. Dogs gotta have their heads out.

Does the snugtop rebel have sliding screens. Is it worth the $350 extra for the XV vs. Rebel?
