    Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    I had a Siebon, and VIS in the past.

    Both were very nice.

    I bought a wrecked civic del slow that had a carbon hood on it. It broke very much the same as fiberglass would, pretty much like a patato chip except its got fiber in it that it doesn't just shatter it tends to stay cracked but together.

    My old car a girl I was dating at the time jumped on the hood and cracked the inside support. The hood was on that car for years without problems after that, but when open you could see the crack on the support.

    I'm considering it for a few reasons. My hood has a paint blemish. It was there when I bought it. I don't like the white hood because of glare anyway, so I'm not inclined to pay for a repaint. I considered a CF wrap, but it would have to be stripped off every few years because of the sun here. I don't like the black painted hood thing. I've always liked the scooped look better (pure vanity), last reason is weight savings. The hoods are about $750 shipped, which is a chunk of change for sure.

    I forgot to add that I also repainted my hood back to oem bsp. After the Aerocatch hood latches were installed.

    garage1.jpg IMG_0868.jpg parkshoot3.jpg No experience with a Tacoma one but I have one on my Viper (trunk lid is CF also). Significant weight savings of both the hood and wallet. It fluttered a little at speed until I installed all the oem foam strips onto it. Some day I'll pick one up for the taco to match, but not at $1098. Maybe at $600 like Torspd scored.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Make sure any CF part you shop for is truly CF. Many of the parts out there are glass layered with CF cloth. While likely lighter than our hoods, you need to know the comparison to determine any true wt value. And an actual glass hood should be a lot less expensive than an actual CF piece.

    It's the glass pieces that look like CF that tend to stick it to consumer wallets.

    When CF was the rage for the rice bois, I always enjoyed their 'logic' of wt savings in the Miata world. Since the Miata already had an aluminum hood that weighed in at ~17#, the 3# wt. savings for a true CF piece, and the 1# savings of a CF coated glass piece made the per pound cost more than imported coats from hand fed Chinchillas.

    If anyone is wonder why I angled mine, it was out of necessity. Form always follows function. The fiberglass and CF (fiberglass underlining) will flutter at 70+, on both sides of the center hood latch. Latches were a must to protect my investment. Enough time of fluttering, and it will crack around the hood's center latch.

    As for the angle, the lowest leading edge follows the curve of the hood. So that there is a more progressive curve towards the part closer to the windshield. The CF hood has a slightly sharper curve downward towards the grill/lights than oem. Slightly but evident. This being noticed, mounting the latches in a fashion which induces the least amount of stress at that curve, was the necessity. Breaking the hood around the mounting hole would have no positive effect.

    Also, for the top mount latches, which are the preferred stronger choice of mounting on the CF style hood, as it disperses the load more evenly, in respect to how the wind pushes UP on the hood, the under mounting frame, which is used for added structural integrity, is aluminum and needs as flat a surface as possible.

    Exactly. This is why if considering such an option, it needs to be considered for what the uses and necessities are. Including weight savings. I weighed the OEM hood some time ago. It is not light. The CF hood is roughly 17 lbs. I think the OEM hood is somewhere in the 40's.

    I got a good price, fiberglass alone wasn't available at the time, weight savings to lower overall all vehicle weight a must, ease of removal for engine work *bonus*.

    25# becomes significant in a performance application for sure. And you are correct, ease of removal if you are doing a lot of in/out engine work/tweaking.

    On a normal street driven Tacoma, even when heavily slanted to off roading, it may be a bit of overkill.

    I did put a glass cowl induction hood on an S10 Blazer I overhauled once. Not for weight (although there was some savings) as much as the cool factor. My goal was an LSx motor. Never got that far, as someone decided they wanted it more than I did. :D

    I had one on a WRX that I used to own. I wanna say it was Seibon or VIS, it was a great hood and I didn't have any problems with it fluttering even with a 3" hood scoop on it. It was decently strong too. I had someone lay a street bike over on my hood and where the end of the handlebar hit, it left a good sized spider web in the clear coat but other than that I loved it.

    Nothing big. K&N filters which don't do much, some Quality Wires plug wires which I also can't feel but look great and I got to spend most of my day installing because the coils are under the intake manifold :thumbsup:, high flow cats and corsa exhaust which made a nice difference. I had it tuned afterwards with an SCT tuner and woke it up a bit more. I plan to sell in the spring to buy a coupe which I will likely supercharge.IMG_0799.jpg

    The underside looks a little nicer than the VIS hood which I have. If that means anything. It is also cheaper than the VIS hood, when purchased directly from VIS.

    The years shown are weird, why do they go from 05-09? Don't the hoods change in the 08-11?
