Hey y'all, first time poster here. Wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for 17" wheels that'll fit on a 2nd gen. I bought a set, but the offset wouldn't fit (17x8 -12mm). I like the look and practicality of steelies. Looking for something that won't break the bank

A set of 3rd gen take-offs should be relatively inexpensive at this point (I bought mine for $350 with 3,000 miles). They also look good AND look factory (because they are). IMO They are the best option out there for someone wanting to update the look of the truck without going super gaudy or expensive.

Why wouldn’t they fit? Or they didn’t work with your tire choice?

Haven't had any luck finding 3rd gen wheels for cheap so far, will be keeping my eye out, though.

They hit the brake callipers in the front, I guess there wasn't enough backspacing. Not really up for doing spacers, btw

17s shouldnt rub the caliper. Was it an odd spoke design?

Stock lift. I guess the 8" width with the -12 offset was just a bit too much

Had nothing to do with the width or offset . There are plenty of guys running that with no issues of caliper clearance. Had to be the wheel design.

@jalsko, I’ll be selling my 3rd gen Sport wheels in the near future. Where are you located?

Asking $200 for all 4 without TPMS, 5/32 tread tires included if you want em.

This is helpful. I'm also new member on line now looking at 17 inch rims at the moment for my 2006 4X4 DC TRD Pro. Going from OEM 16 's. Little trouble finding something I like in 3rd Gen take offs with the 6x139.7 needed for fitness. A little more than I wanted to spend but looking at the Black Rhino Ridge in -18 offset.
Someone (smarter than me, I'm a greenhorn new to the game) let me know how they think this will work.

Shipping will probably be too expensive to be worthwhile, unfortunately. You’re more than welcome to look into it and we can continue via PM.

shipping isn’t as bad as you’d think. Lots of these things on Craigslist too.
