I know but conversely most people don’t have a fab shop to even make these.

Last year I tried making my own aluminum bed rails with my cut off tool, it was pretty much a disaster and scrapped $75 in alum.

I'd be interested in your bed stiffeners if you still have them for sale. Wondering what you would want for them.

I put together an over the top mid travel on my truck...

    King RR Coilovers $1,800
    JBA UCA HD $700
ECGS bearing (w/ removal tool) $100

    King RR shocks $900
    Deaver U402 leafs $800
Archive Hammer Hangers (w/ crosstube) $500
Archive Ubolt flip w/ super bumps $250
    Extended brake line $50

Total = $5100 (doesn't include install of rear components, another $1k)

Yes, I could have gotten more expensive UCA's but for my salty road conditions a greasable ball seemed best. Yes, I could have got hydro bump stops, but rubber will do fine when I occasionally hit them.

    Tires and wheels $2k

I think it's a ridiculous cost for what it is, but I still don't want to spend any more than I have to for 90° gussets.

You could but it’s not the same thickness, plus no tie down loops and no install holes and no powder coat.

I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting making their own, but yet to see anyone do it.

The most critical part would be making a perfect 90. I am a noob when it comes to welding but I bet I could make a set. I just don't know if it's worth spending an entire weekend making something worth $100 that would look much more ghetto.

Other projects to do first, like replace my PS rack. After that debacle is complete and I’m driving the truck again, I’ll post up some pics.

Why it wouldn't be the same thickness? I could be wrong but It looks like standard 1/8 inch steel from the pictures. Weld two pieces of angle iron at 90 degrees, add a gusset for strength. For the tie downs drill holes on the side of angle iron not bolted to the bed.
Looking at the pics the Cali raised looks more structured sound or beefier than the Total Chaos. The Total Chaos looks like they used flat bar and welded gussets.

Perhaps it is 1/8" steel, not sure. Whichever the case I heard a lot of members talking about how easy these things are to make, haven't seen anything yet.

There you go, I knew they weren't 1/4" and 1/8" seemed a bit thin.

Cool, knowing the size is half the battle. If I ever get some time at work, I will try to make some, just to see what I come up with. My bed is usually empty so never saw the need for this mod. I do like the tie down options.

    Agreed!

You want a lot of meat in the gusset and out to at least the bed bolt and the first two side bolts. After that, the load transfer drops off.
