I have an aftermarket radio and would like a little extra bass. However, I would like the keep the rear somewhat functional. Nobody ever sits back there but I need to be able to flip the seats over and get access to the storage areas under those seat bottoms. Or just to flip them over and create flat rear spot for the dogs.
My rear "seats" look like this:

Does anyone have any experience with these under front seat powered sub systems like these:

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_69558_Clarion-SRV250.html
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_69800_Kenwood-KSC-SW11.html

A Bazooka mounted straight up and down between the two rear seat backs?
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_20977_Bazooka-BTA850FH.html

Or this mounted between the two rear seat backs?
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_372_Infinity-BassLink.html

I've seen subs put into the rear access doors but there are currently already speakers in mine. I would like to keep those if possible and also worry about door rattle. Not interested in losing the center storage compartment either. Any other ideas?

I have the sound ordance bsd-8....I think that's the model...look on crutchfield and you'll find it.

All I'll say is for a stock replacement it work just fine. For serious bass...look elsewhere.

I had the sub on the back wall in mine and lost it when I upgraded headunits. The new sub fits under the seat but it is a tight fit. It's not going anywhere lol.

As for how it sounds.....off to a about 1/8th of a turn is the same as the stock. 1/8th to 1/4 is where I normally keep mine. It's good sound and you can feel the bass in your butt. Up to 1/2 the is ok, the bass starts getting a bit muddy and poor sound. Over the half mark I rarely do as the sound quality really goes down.

But for the price and size I am happy. But again I wanted something a bit more than stock and not the shake the whole truck loud.

I'm on my phone so sorry for the short and kind of poorly worded response. If ya have more questions I'll gladly answer later

velillen, thats because your "clipping" the amp= distortion = doesnt sound good.
The gain is not a volume control, its to match the output voltage with the amp input

Lol. He also said "any other ideas"

But on a real note, none of what was mentioned really counts as "bass".
Bass and Space saving doesn't go together. Op is better off buying a killer set of mids and being done with it. The door speakers sound terrible in these trucks, and upgrading them is going to make it sound so much better than adding a small amount of suffocated, clip happy subwoofers.

Put an 8" sub in the front passenger footwell. You'll be amazed at the sound you can get from that location.

    My suggestion is as follows:

1.Sound deaden the doors - raamatt has a how to on there website. -$250 bucks. Huge improvement on stock speakers and quiets the truck.
    2. Determin what cost you want to spend. Amp/components/coaxial(rear). Or coaxial all around on stock radio or aftermarket head unit.
    3. After these modifications if he still wants more bass. Add 10" sub.

This is the order I have done and will always do. You would be amazed at what sound deading does.

This was my old setup. Now I am under the rear seats.

I have a kenwood 8 inch sub under my seat. It's meant for small cars without a trunk since it fits so well. It's decent. I'm adding another under the passenger seat soon.

That is a great deal. Raamatt also has done group buys here in the past. His product comes in tiles and is really great to work with.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm not looking for competition or to blow my ears out. I'm too old for that. :D And don't currently have any rattles but I'm sure after upgrading speakers they might develop. Sound deadening and upgraded door speakers sounds promising. The adapters seem expensive to me though. But all good ideas and gives me ideas to ponder.

Do you know anyone that makes a custom box for this?
