Best Coil Overs 2” bilstein 5100??

Hey guys, I did a 2” leveling kit a few years back and I added a 1” block in the back to level it out and Slapped some 285 65 R18 Toyo ATs on it.. it looks pretty sweet!! But it rides pretty rough!! More like shit actually.. I’m wondering if anyone has been down this rough road and found a smoother one!! Just tired of the bumps around town.. are coil overs worth it? Which ones worked best?? AAL?? When it’s all said and done was the ride improved to close or even better than stock?

 

Do you plan on doing any off-roading at all or just trying to gain lift and comfort in your ride?

 

Don’t really need much more lift.. as for off road it will be minimal.. i just want a better ride around town. 2” spacers up front and 1” block in the rear don’t equate to a nice ride

 

When you upgrade to a coilover, typically you increase spring rate by a bit which doesn’t really equate to a better on road ride necessarily. If you want a better ride and some lift and don’t do much off-roading, I would find a coilover with a soft coil for up front. And maybe an AAL for the rear. Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and tell her what you’re looking for and what you want and see what she recommends. Very knowledgeable!

 

Came here looking for this very information as I was about to lvl my truck with spacers in the front and back. Now I need to start looking at a coilover. Any suggestions where to start by chance (maybe a link to another thread)?

I think your best bet would be to talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road like myself and @Clearwater Bill said. She is super knowledgeable and they sell all kinds of suspension components all the time. She’ll be able to help guide you in the right direction. You can tell her what your desire is for your trucks performance and what you plan to do with your truck. Let her know your budget and she’ll give you some great options. I can tell you what to put on your truck but you can skip the middle man (me or anyone else) and go straight to the source and get great info there. She’s not gonna try to sell you anything unnecessary. They’ll hook you up with what you want and need.

 

Thanks i think they are outa town for the holidays.. but i will hit them up after.. from my snooping around older threads.. it looks like bilstein 5100’s are the way to go.. just what coils & what AAL for the rear. I was thinking of selling my truck and getting a full size.. but i think I’ll try and improve on this one.. shit it’s paid for and hasn’t skipped a beat..

Yes, without a doubt. Pair them with SPC light racing upper control arms for best results.

 

Here is a nice, affordable set up:

Bilstein 5100 struts and shocks - $340.00
Headstrong Off-road 2" coils - $160.00
Deaver 1" AAL - $80.00

 

I shouldn’t need UCAs if i go 2 - 2 1/2” should I? I have 2” now with stock UCAs. What kind of improvements do they offer?

 

It's definitely doable with your stock ones but in my opinion you get a better ride due to actually using all the travel.

This may be my mind playing tricks but that's all I have to offer as far as scientific stuff

Oh another question.. in the rear, the AAL (i have no idea which one to do yet. Although I’m leaning towards the HS 3 leaf). From blocks to the AAL.. Am i changing the geometry for the driveshaft/U joint? Probably not enough to worry about

I hated my 5100's and OME coils. Besides headstrong I would also call Rogue Offroad and ask for Shawn. He's a wealth of knowledge.
