Yeah, you think he's embelishing a bit?

So he's probably only holding 3k RPM but that got exaggerated to 4,500 RPM.

What's the reason you want a new CAI? Show, go, dough?

I do appreciate all of the responses to my question. For now, I am going to stick with stock and install a cleanable filter.
And now I will start plotting my next change!

I have ebay intake (K&N knockout) which I bought for $70 shipped. If you want intake just for cool sound like I wanted, ebay intake is the way to go...

Sounds smart, I was going to get a cold air to at one point, but after reading threads it seemed like a waste of 2-300 dollars, plus the trd intake I believe has an issue of running lean which is definitely not good for an engine

Working on installing VOLANT CAI in my 2013 Tacoma...
THE AIR PUMP MOUNTING HOLES IN THE VOLANT AIRBOX ARE MISALIGNED.
After moving the rubber mounting plugs from the Tacoma bracket into the VOLANT airbox, the next step is re-inserting the pump onto the airbox.
NO GOOD!!! The outer mounting hole for the rubber plug is misaligned... causing the plug to pop out of the airbox once the air pump is fitted.
Even the company video shows the misalignment... see still-shot attached.
I called VOLANT tech support in hopes of passing along some friendly feedback... got someone who could care less.
    CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

I can attest that unfortunately URDs claim that the intake is not affected by rain is incorrect. While I had the tCAI installed on my 2008 Tacoma I was twice caught in the rare but non the less very intense Arizona Monsoon and on both occasions the truck actually hydrolocked itself while traveling into the face of the storm down the freeway. Of course it turned over almost immediately after but the second time this happened it died 3-4 times within a matter of a few minutes forcing me onto surface streets. Both instances the filter was absolutely drenched even with the "hydroshield" prefilter sock. I should also note that I am running a Grillcraft Grill and would have added the shield had it ever shipped with my order...

Needless to say I pulled the intake the same day and went back to stock and have had zero issues to date on the stock intake and paper filters. That being said, having run TRD, Airaid, Volant and URD intakes on my truck of the 4 I listed I was the most pleased by the performance results of the URD. Truck most definitely seemed to breathe better and was a little peppier on the butt-dyno than the other intakes I tried however none of them are worth the investment over stock and if you intend to wheel your truck whatsoever the URD is not the best option. For a street or boosted truck of course they are the frontrunner.

Hello, Just wondering if you still have the Volant CAI in your truck. If you do, and since some time has passed since your original post, do you still love it? Pros? Cons? I it worth the $$$? Or is stock the way to go? Also did you feel the need for a URD MAF Sensor Calibrator? Thanks, Gil
