Best cold air intake

What's the best cold air to install in my 2015?

 

The stock one is the best cold air intake for your truck.

Anything else is a waste of money. Use your money on a mod that benefits your truck.

Good intakes avoiding the silencing baffles and accordion bullshit the factory comes with: afe stage 2 si.......urd (if urs seals around the maf sensor right).......volant (supposedly the lean condition is fixed now)......

 

Not so good: k&n (oiled filters are not good for maf sensors and k&n is supposed to filter terribly)............ trd (made by k&n in a hurry and designed off of an incorrect oem intake which causes lean issues iirc).........and if ur running a mesh grill, and around alot of rain, or get a unit that doesnt seal around the maf seat, the URD is not worth it. The urd runs an exposed filter directly behind the grill, requires a little sheet metal cutting, and WILL NOT DRAW COLDER AIR THAN STOCK ABOVE 40 MPH.....
Bone stock will draw ambient air at this speed, and u will not draw any colder air than ambient....but if u want to flex ur stoplight intake temp muscles, get the urd.
Ive tested the ones listed above (both posts)on my own truck minus the volant which was on a friends truck and I used scangauge 2 or ultragauge to watch the temps.

 

Save your money and move north. It's freezing here in new england.

 

To put it in a tiny nutshell. A CAI for your truck won't improve HP at all. It will make it louder at max acceleration as you enter the freeway to drive to the mall.

2015? Wait till Magnusen releases it's supercharger for the Gen 2 Tacomas. Got $6k? There is nothing else you can do except buy headers, CAI, cat backs, and get 10 HP more at the highest rev point. After spending 3k without install costs. The Tacoma ain't like a ricer tuner car. You are screwed.

Maybe reading the forums first in the performance sub-forum, hang out a while as you learn that the Tacoma is VERY limited for HP increases unless you are rich and want to experiment with the daily driver......

 

Only reason I put my AFE Stage 2 CAI was because I got a smokin deal on it. Other than that I would never pay full price for one. It sounds better jumping on the freeway, but being a realist (with some knowledge of high performance mods on motors), on these Taco's it doesn't really make a difference sadly. If you have the money for it and its what you want, Great! If you have lots of money, then just fork over the money for a supercharger.

 

Let's see, most of this forum is about "spending" money - tires, wheels, lifts, repairs, mods, etc etc etc. One mans wasted spending is another's investment in making his (or her) vehicle uniquely theirs.

I dropped in a K&N oiled filter when I first bought my 2005 DCSB. No problem after 11 years. MAF sensor worked just fine.

Yes. When you buy new tires, you get better traction. When you repair, well, you repair your truck. When you lift, you gain ground clearance. These are all tangible benefits. Adding a CAI to a truck where it has zero tangible benefit is worthless, except to sound louder.

At the end of the day OP, you pay for your truck - not me. You can put whatever you like to make it yours, but if you ask I'm still going to tell you something is worthless when it is.

"One mans ceiling can be another mans floor" - If the tangible benefit is to just change the looks of your ride (a lift for larger tires, for a truck that NEVER goes off road) then the tangible benefit is just as worthless, using the same logic. In the end, opinions are like - you know - everyone has one.

 

So what kind of mods would benefit my truck I just put a leveling kit it with 285/70's and want a little more juice to handle the rubber
