I agree drilling in to the roof of your truck is a little scary. I have to do that kinda thing at work but still botheres me on my own. If I remember correctly Prinsu provides a template. Measure and use the template, be careful, and drill. I will suggest, Idk if they do or not, using some clear rtv when instaling the nutserts and the mounting bolts, you can never be too careful and you don't want leaks

One would think. I posted a link with a user who had a dual crossbar set up on his AC. What I don't know is if it is supposed to be dual, or he just made it fit.

yep, not as scared about the actual drilling itself, but the airbags directly below the sheetmetal  I would likely pull the headliner to give some visual to the airbags

Not that I have any real idea but I have been watching the progression of Marty's build and really like the idea as opposed to having to lug all the equipment through the trails with me. I do also understand the bennifits of having it all with you and just being able to pop up camp wherever you decide to stop.

Would a kayak and RTT even fit on a DBCB with a shell or bed mount?

Mount your RTT on bed bars that sit low enough to put the top of the tent level with the cab. Toss the kayak/canoe on a roof rack. That's how my DCSB is setup and it works well. Using 6-8" bed bars gives you a good compromise between tent height and storage underneath it in the bed.

    I would love a pic.

I think you might have solved by issue.

I believe tyYeti has used this same configuration with the rtt and canoes on top. If I remember correctly he had a couple of small issues ar first but found a solution

Well if someone could provide pics of the RTT on the bed mount lowered enough that I could use it as support for the kayak I would be trilled.

It seems the only advantage the DBCB has over the AC is another set of back seats to sleep or store stuff.

    Anything else I'm missing?
