I install windows, swing doors, and sliding glass doors... Average at least 200 1/4 inch tapcons a day... I can vouch for makita impact guns. I've had some that last 7 years. I'm not very careful with them weather using them as hammers, taking big drops, and really trying to sink 1/4 tapcons.

Using a makita 48v cordless hammer drill for the past 6 months and it's been great as well.

Oh I believe it. It gets out of control in a hurry. I just bought my first one last year and I think I’m already up to 10 tools :anonymous:

Probably anything not sold by Harbor Freight...lol

Makita (my personal favorite), Dewalt, Milwaukie...heck, the HD & Lowes store brand tools are pretty solid too.

I have mostly Milwaukie, and two DeWalt tools...a sawzall and a hammer drill, both corded. But I also own a bunch of Harbor Freight Bauer cordless stuff that I keep at my parents house for maintenance and they have been flawless. Zero issues. Warranty sucks, but even with the extended they are cheaper than most anything.

I have a ton of DeWalt "20V". A scattering of ancient Makita 9.6V, and a few 12V Milwaukee cordless tools, need some smaller stuff so I jumped on the set above.

My crusty review from the other thread: There are a few small nits..............these really are..........I need to be careful here - these tools are not top of the line Milwaukee. They are and really feel like made in China and have a China (toy) feel and smell when first powered up. Don't get me wrong, I like the tools and I bought them for size and value. I always wanted the small sawzall (sweet) plus they supply 4 blades (I think all my DeWalt blades will fit, need to check) . The little flashlight is junk magnet won't even hold the mass of the flashlight, cheap feels. The driver is a bit sad as it just accepts 1/4" hex shanks - OK nothing super wrong with that, probably better than just 3/8" square drive. I have a couple socket drives, good excuse to buy more. (ahahha!). It is interesting the cordless ratchet tool is a normal 3/8" square configuration and they even supply a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter. The drill is great (small) two batteries perfect and charger (my second) is great. OH yeah the bag is nice and spacious, can just add my M12 right angle grinder.............and have a sweet compact 12V kit.

We have 50+ Milwaukee tools that we use daily and really like their durability. Make sure to get the "Fuel". Milwaukee's warranty is very good.

I prefer Milwaukee, I don't use them professionally but between wrenching and renovating the house they've always been solid. I haven't used DeWalt recently for anything besides work and I still was not impressed by their battery life. Also had issues with some of the drills getting EXTREMELY hot, to the point we had to use one at a time, swapping them out to let them cool while building a bridge out on the trails. Just my two cents.

I own many tools from both, I would say Milwaukee is somewhat better (largest selection of tools and 5 year warranty) but you can't go wrong with Dewalt either IMO.

One of my favorite tools is the fein multi saw, but your going to pay a premium.

Never used Fein; are they worth the premium? They always look cheap and plastic-y when I see them on the shelf.

I work on dirt and aerial construction equipment. Mechanic by trade. So I use Snapon. Main reason is when it brakes and it will, they all do. My dealer sends it in work repair. He carries a loaner on the truck for this reason.

I have both Dewalt and Milwaukee and find no difference in quality other than the color.

comparing cutoff saws and 1/2 impact drills since that is what I have in common there is no difference in speed or power that would make one better than another.

It mostly is just what color / brand you prefer and what one you are stuck with once you make your preference.

I have Dewalt for home and Milwaukee for work only because my boss likes the red stuff.

Dewalt or Milwaukee. Sort of the same question as Ginger or Mary Ann.

You've probably long ago decided and bought already... but, I've owned and used hard both brands and prefer to not buy Dewalt.
My experience is that they are built heavy to appeal to people that think weight is quality, but they don't last as well as lighter tools. I've had two sets and the batteries don't last as long as the other brands I've owned. I'm not hard on tools and I've sold Dewalts at yard sales that looked pretty new but the batteries had gone bad.
I've had a set of Milwaukees for ten years and am still using the original batteries. Worn out the chuck twice on my driver and will soon replace it again, and the circular and reciprocating saw I bought with the driver as a set are all working fine.
I've never had any problems with Makita or Hitachi, but I'd advise you to stay away from Ryobi.
