I like the Sokietech struts I've seen here because no drilling is required. The problem is that they are apparently no longer sold. So, are there any other brands that do not require drilling? If not, which of the "some drilling required" types should I look at?

I was not excited about drilling holes either, but if you measure carefully and take your time, it's not bad at all. I had a second person come look at my measurements before I drilled, just to be sure I wasn't missing something. I am really happy with mine, the "Elite" model from Redline Tuning. Since I was inexperienced with riveting, I bought the tool and some extra (correct size) rivets from them. I didn't want to guess what to get for that part and it was easier to get theirs.

*Edit: AV8R1951, you have 2022 in your signature... my reply is regarding my 2015 2nd generation.

years ago it was mainly two. One seemed popular but I believe did not have adjustability installing while the other did. I forget which is which. Redline and spiker.

meaning during install you mark position based on high how you want the hood to open which can be a factor in things like room to work on the engine, clearance, reaching the hood, not hitting ditch lights, etc

I don’t see an issue with drilling. You can put sealant, paint, etc

Never understood why folks are afraid of drilling holes. Like it will make the truck fall apart, or the resale will be less than zero.
They’re trucks. Trucks that work, get holes.

you should be laying on the fluid film pretty think in and under everything every year anyway with this trucks

I would buy a set but i don’t open my hood enough to justify it other than oil changes. :D

Thanks to all. I’m not worried about drilling the holes - stop collars are my friend. It looks like the Redline struts are in my future.

I put the redline struts on mine a couple years ago, install was pretty easy and they come with detailed instructions on where to drill.

A tip to prevent you from drilling into something you don't want to is find a piece of hose or tubing that fits over your bit and cut it to leave about 1/4 in of bit sticking out, that way when you break through it can't go any deeper. Nothing worse than drilling into a harness or something else you didn't intend to.
