This is the one I’ve had since 2014 mounted on my rear view. Set it and forget it. 1080p clear picture, SD card that overwrites when it’s full. I just ran the cable around the window and down to the cigarette outlet since I didn’t want to bother permenantly tapping wires.

    The mount

Beside the plug into the cigarette outlet, you don’t even notice it’s there.

Has anyone used the parking mode? Do they find that it drains their battery etc?

Or alternatively has anyone got an extra battery pack? It seems like the thinkware is more user friendly and shows less wires to install but won't record as long...blackvue has this tiny panel that needs to be exposed and will record longer... I think if the battery doesn't end up being an issue I'll give the blackvue a try :fingerscrossed:

Bench-seat covers $180 (Can't believe its not leather),Bed Liner $375 (Bed rug), Roof rack $180 (Rhino-rack 2500 Series, plus DK clamps and pads), Modified Bed extender $85 (Extend-A-Truck 944 Truck Bed Extender), Hood lift assist $80 (RedlineTuning), Hood light $53 (tacomaworld.com âtacodaneâ), Hitch receiver $120 (Curt Manufacturing 13323 Class III Receiver), T connector for trailer $43 (CURT Manufacturing 55513 T-Connector), Manuel tailgate lock $30 (gatekeeper tailgate lock), Tailgate assist $28 (Sachs SG329900EZ Lift Support), Tailgate lock $67 (Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock Tailgate Lock PL5301), Spare tire lock $12 (Trimax ST30 Trimaflex Spare Tire Cable Lock), Hardwired battery float charger $20 (Schumacher SE-1-12S-CA Fully Automatic Onboard Battery Charger - 1.5 Amps) , Vin # Glass etching $33 (vinguard.org), Easy oil drain plug $30 (Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve), Floor mats $80 (Husky Liners 2-Piece Front Liner 2-Piece Front Liner), out of space :)
In short, 1080p is not enough. So almost all dash cams listed above are not good.

So rexing 1, not good. But they have 1080P 60fps. It's called 4K but it's lie.
Pruveeo F5, garbage 720p (on buget, get Pruveeo Q5)
BlackVue, way overpriced 1080, plus view is only 140°
    Roav, only 1080, angle.

Most likely, in hit and run, with small angel and 1080, you wont see license plate. Forget it at night.

I have 2 cams mentioned above, they had its prime time. But 4k way to go.

How about some examples from the dash cam mounted where it should be... on the dash. My dash cam won't be mounted on a perch like the example in this video. The brands you're trashing (Thinkware and BlackVue) are superior, hands down. I can see the plate numbers clearly with those two when mounted on the DASH and rear window. Besides, after owning a dash cam in the 100$ range... I'll never do that again.

I have the Rexing with the rear camera and I have it wired to an aux cigarette lighter socket behind the kick panel. Works great HD front but not rear.

Technology is moving forward and your 50" TV from 90's did cost $5k, today you can buy 50" UltraHD for $500. If you overpaid for yesterdays technology it does not make it better. Cams you defending, regardless price, have lower specs, not as good.

Rexing rear only 720p. All dual cams with rear function bad. Better get 2 separate cams

I've been using the SpyTec A119.

Sure, it's "cheap", but it works great as a dashcam. :notsure: I'm not looking to become a YouTube star with it, I just want something that will be recording when I need it. I run it at its highest resolution at 30fps and it sees license plates just fine*

My advice is to hardwire it, and buy the wiring kit from The Dashcam Store. I bought a wiring kit off of Amazon for like $12 and it was terrible. The dashcam would periodically lose power. After troubleshooting for a week I finally just went to the Dashcam Store and bought a kit for $30. It was much better quality and has been working flawlessly ever since.

Edit: I was wrong for saying:
"Poweredbysoy, i think there is several problems with you dash
    Its 1080p 30fps
??no battery.. During accident cam might loose power and not save video . Test it out, unplug cam from power and see if it saves last clip"

    ADD:
Looks like that spytech camera not bad:
Chipset Novatel 96660 Sensor OV4689 (most common combination in better dash cams) It's 4 mb chip-set and from what I understand it can do what it claims without cheating software.
    TRUE 2560*1440 30fps; 1920*1080 60fps;

Camera does not need battery, it uses capacitor that stores power and gives it to camera to safe last file.

Side note: turn off Gsensor, its useless and might fill up your memory and will not have space to save last video with accident.

yes, I have done the mods
Something to keep in mind is the temperatures around where your car is going to be. I got a Lukas 7900 a few years ago because it's rated to super-hot temperatures. Full sun summers in Southern California can get my car roasting. Make sure to look to see what temperature your chosen model is rated to.

Lukas is a reputable player in dashcams, and mine came with onboard GPS, continuous recording, accelerometer bump sensing, automatic clip saving, and a tiny onboard battery to that yes, if a big wreck cuts out power to the camera, it'll still save that last clip to the SD card. There are newer Lukas models by now.

In terms of choosing a camera, some of it is gonna depend on what features are important to you - do you want one with a screen on it? Mine doesn't have a screen, but it does have an RCA video out plug, so I ran an RCA cable to my pioneer stereo so I can switch to a live view of the camera whenever.

Do you want front and back cameras that work together, or only front? I just got front for my truck, but for my wife's Highlander I got a dual-camera unit with front and back after somebody bumped her backing up in a parking lot.

Do you want one with onboard wifi so you can connect to it with your phone and see a live view or download clips without removing the SD card?

I have mine wired to my switchpro so that I can easily switch it between switched accessory power (camera boots up when the truck starts and shuts off when truck shuts off) to constant-hot if I want to keep it recording while I'm parked somewhere sketchy. Most major manufacturers now have install kits with a hard switch so you can just reach up and flick the switch if you want the camera to just constantly run, even when your truck is off. These cameras take so little juice that they'd have to run for a pretty long time to kill a full battery.

A good resource for dashcam reviews is dashcamtalk. That site is how I chose my Lukas way back when.

I started to use a dash camera after some people lied to the police and I was arrested. it cost me over 12,500 to get out of jail and stay out of jail. I use this dash camera 100 percent of the time now. so it not my word vs others word.
