I have the inexpensive "Beam". When I bought it, it was $89 IIRC, and had a discount at the time. Looks like a bit more now but a discount is offered again.

As in that shitty looking thing that plugs into the mirror? If so, it should. That's my chief complaint is that it requires a USB-A to connect for power. I prefer to hardwire with a set up like Garmin. Specifically, the Beam prefers 1A not 2 or 2.5A like the Garmin hardwire. It works for me so far pushing the higher amperage but the tech told me 1A is more desirable.

I just don't like hardwiring but still using a USB-A adapter.

I’ve got the OEM camera in my wife’s 2021 RAV4 that uses the same app…and it’s a PITA on iOS. Hopefully they improve the app…because it’s garbage. How can they code it perfectly for Android and like a bunch of flatulent monkeys for anything else?

I've never had a dash cam...so, it looks like I'll have to do some serious research.

By saying, iOS...do you mean iPhone Operating System?

Yes. iOS is what’s on the iPhone. All the new models that are WiFi enabled use some variation of the same app. Luckily, you can still pop the SD card out and read it that way.

+1 for the BlackVue DR900X-2CH - I've had it for 3 years now. Added 2 battery packs to record while parked at work - some real scum bags at this place. None of them are perfect. but this is the best one I've seen/used.

I’ve been wanting this one. Where did you mount the rear camera? How long did it take to install?

I mounted the rear on the upper portion of the rear window as close to the c pillar on the drivers side so there are basically no wires exposed at all and can’t really see it in the rear view mirror.
Install took around an hour? maybe..
Just get tap-a-fuses for the driver kick panel fuse box and a 128gb Samsung SD card.
Remove drivers A pillar with one single 10mm bolt under the small cover and it pulls off. The wires you can tuck into the front of the headliner and for the rear wire tuck it into the rubber trim around the sides of the headliner and into the top of the pillars and you can’t tell it’s there. Run the wiring down the A pillar and put under the dash and attach the 2 tap a fuses, the ground goes to a 10mm bolt directly under the fuse block. The excess wiring I bundled up with zip tie and put just below the driver A pillar. When running wiring under A pillar be sure you attach it to the existing wiring harness and not just dangling around due to air bag. Constant power I used the empty fuse slot that has a line through it that has no purpose, switch power was probably usb or another low amp switch power fuse can’t remember exactly. Mounted front camera directly behind rear view mirror and can’t see it while driving. Test camera, and set all setting preferences and format SD card and you’re done.

I just hold my phone the whole time. And I make sure "they" know they are being recorded. You have to tell them or it doesn't work.

i have two blackvue and never had to "use" them. they just record while parked or driving. I had a cheap one ($100) and replaced it with a blackvue and is easier to view videos on your phone.

I got the Rexing V1P 3rd gen (front and rear cams), because I've had another Rexing in my Camry for years and it's great. I bought the Dongar adapter to power it off the mirror and was curious if it would work. It does!! I had issues with it turning off after a few minutes and suspected the Dongar, but it was actually the card I was using. I swapped in the Kingston card from my other cam and it works perfect. No power cord woes with a clean install.

I have the Blackvue DR750 2 channel, Love it so far. Fun recording the morons on the road from day to day and the stupid s**t they do. If you do get into a contested accident, easy to show the cops your side.

Check out BlackVue Downloader - http://www.gizmocoding.com/ (I'm just a happy customer). My Dashcam footage uploads to my PLEX Server "automagically" via Wifi when I pull into the garage. Then I play back the idiot footage on my television. Good Times.
