I was willing to travel about 200 hundred miles to find what I was looking for. I ended up finding a deal about 40 miles away.

    2015 DCSB TRD OR
    Toyota Certified 12mo/12k 5yr/100k
    Bought late Feb 2017
    45k miles
    paid $26.7

In my situation the key to finding a deal was finding a truck that a dealer had on their lot for 30,60,90 days. The big dealerships are pressured to turn their inventory. They cut prices monthly and you have to move quick. This truck started at 29,999.

Understanding selling cars from the dealers perspective is key. For me I knew if a used Tacoma was on a "real dealership" they weren't going to risk it coming back and being a lemon (even if it wasn't CPO).

Yup. Most of the search sites give you a free car fax that will show you when the car was offered for sale at a dealer. Once so had the search narrowed to a dozen trucks I looked to see which ones had sat the longest knowing they were most likely to cut a deal.

I'd make them clean it before taking delivery if it was all sticky.

Bought my first Toyota 12/15 from a 74yo guy that handed me a file of dealership 5000 mi service & tsb repairs. With the wheels and tires I'm still running, Access bed cover and a fancy interior color accents. It's a 2012 and had 45k on it when I handed him a $20k check. I've grown very fond of this truck in the past 15 months or so, and am even getting used to all that red stuff on the dash.

I'm curious about that (above) color kit, anyone know anything about it?
I think I counted 50 or 60 individual "parts" and I was just curious what the guy spent on it.

:D I hear ya! A few of the red pieces have fallen off and I'm actually thinking it look's awful plain in those few places. I've saved them but eventually, as more fall off, I'll have to make a decision weather to stick them back on of rip the rest off.
But all the "chunkey" young girls at the drive through windows really like it!:anonymous:

    nothing cool
$28,000 back in 2012. Had 6k miles on it sitting at a Dodge Dealership. Listed for $33,900 on their website. But listed for $28,000 on eBay "buy it now". And it was local.

Spacer lift, bumper stickers, ejector seat, etc.

$25K for a 2012 Access cab TRD Offroad with 13K miles back in late 2015. Bought it from an older gentleman in WV, he kept it bone stock aside from chrome tube steps and close to a dozen AAA stickers. It's come a long way...

Purchased Dec 24, 2016 from a friend of a friend who was original owner, 3 tours in the middle east, truck was babied. 2005 TRD Sport AC 4.0L 4X4 BSP 6-speed manual, tow pkg, brand new Cooper AT's, all service records, dealer maintained. Georgia truck, only 92k and I gave him what he was asking - $12,500. I spent 20 minutes under the truck checking for rust, barely even surface rust.

All it needed was a good cleaning, some interior and exterior bulbs, and soldered the temp compass display. I put on Bilstien 5100's set at .80, and a Toy-tec AAL in the rear. I had to weld the driver's side front cam bolt tab (which had been bent down previously) so the shop could align the truck. I also put new spark plugs in, it still had the original plugs (3 NGK, 3 Denso). Drives like a brand new truck, interior is spotless... I love it but I'm not sure I'll keep it. Still have my 2006 F150 XLT extended cab 4X4 with 186k that has been a fantastic truck, but the miles are getting up there and the 5.4L is no picnic to work on. Full size trucks are awfully nice, but I really love the Tacoma!

I think I did alright, 2015 4x4 OR 6spd brand new in Nov 2014 for 31.5 (especially in SF Bay Area where dealers won't even negotiate).
