I had a mangaflow muffler welded in, not sure the size but I think one of the bigger ones which keeps it a bit quieter. Probably the best solution for the price.

I ordered mine last Sunday, am told it will be ready for pickup tomorrow or Tuesday. I am itching to receive it. Not really sure why I’m excited but I am, lol.

Mine has a MBRP on it and yes i am a fan of a good sounding exhaust but! That MBRP system in my opinion has way to much drone at highway speeds i just did a trip down to Oregon to visit my sister and 180 miles later i was ready to rip that bastard off. Its just to much does it sound good at idle and cruising around town sure but when this pig shifts down to 4th to pull a good grade on a hill its annoying.

@Redsquirrel thanks man. Yeah I pretty much ruled that out for now I guess. That helped a lot, thanks.

Don't get wrong it sounds good but on a long road trip for me it was too much. My diesel f350 sounds like a jet taking off but on the highway not bad at all it has a 4inch straight through muffler no cat.

I don't mind it, but I fully deadened the doors and back cab wall when I did my sound system. No deadening on the roof or floor though.

Well, that would be the MBRP I think. I don’t hear those complaints about the TRD

Look into a Flowmaster 50 series Delta muffler (Holley/Flowmaster on line). They are a chambered design (last forever), offered in stainless construction, the same diameter in/out as the stock Tacoma pipes, they are designed to have a moderate volume, and have a chamber with two diameter pipes that removes all of the drone at any RPM (it works on mine). If you make your cuts as close to the stock muffler as possible, it will fit right into the gap. Add two muffler butt clamps, a couple hangers, and enjoy. This was the easiest street exhaust I have ever done. From memory, it was $130 from Jegs. Make sure you get the sizes and materials you want, there is a variety to choose from.

My Son runs a 50 series Flowmaster also, he had it welded in and it looks great and sounds pretty damn good with a nice deep grumble and no drone. It fits perfect and sounds even better when he added the TRD CAI and the KDMAX tune really helped the sound with the lower end power. I still like pmy TRD exhaust and was wondering how it would sound with a y pipe?

    MBRP is gonna be obnoxious.

I absolutely enjoy my TRD exhaust modded to be an axle dump / turn down tip:
