I know...everyone wants a bad ass looking offroad tire. Except we all spend a vast majority of our time on pavement.
When I do get offroad, I am on well maintained Forest Service roads...so again no need for serious offroad tires.
The biggest issue I have with every offroad tire I have heard about is that it kills MPG.
While MPG isn't the "end all be all"...it surely effects my pocket book.
I drive 40 miles each way to work...so I want something efficient.
I still have my stock tires on my 2017 OffRoad, and am getting about 20-22 mpg.

What can you all suggest in stock tire size or close? (265/70/16)

It doesn't even look like the LTX M/S2 offer a 16" rim size. Booooo

    Toyota Open Country H/T (highway/trail).

I've had mine on for 25k miles and am seeing very little wear. They seem to work good in light snow as well.

Be aware, they are a hard compound, so they ride rough in my opinion. Not rough enough for me not to buy them for my next set though. I think they are a good compromise.

I've got those on my Tundra. I like them a lot. The ride is great and they are so quiet. They are definitely not a mud tire. Mostly for rain or very light snow. I like them just fine for Forrest trails. They don't paint my truck with clods of mud when I get back to civilization.

Yep. I got 67,000 miles out of my last set on my Nissan. I could have done better if it weren't for that torquey engine...

They carry the Michelin Defender LTX m/s and the Michelin X L/T a/s...they appear to be the exact same tire. I assume the X L/T a/s is the Costco exclusive version of the exact same tire.

The Michelin Defender LTX M/S is a premium highway tire that also will do fine on forest service roads. I ran several sets of the older version on a few of my trucks with solid results.

Please let us know if we can help.

Also look up the weight of each tire your interested in. Just because they’re the same size doesn’t mean they all weigh the same, and weight on a tire will make a substantial difference in MPG and overall performance.

I use the Discount about 1 mile from my house...are you the online Discount dealer? Is the pricing the same between you and the local store?

Just buy more TRDOR take-off tires from your local classifieds. Usually doesn't take long to find someone who bought a brand new TRD OR and immediately upgraded their tires. You can buy 2-3 sets of takeoffs for the price of a a new set of Michelins.

Stock tires are great on the highway and plenty good for forest roads. There's no way you'd ever come out ahead financially buying anything else. Only reason to upgrade would be to go bigger or buy something that's better in winter.

I thought the same thing. The down side is Discount charges a fair amount to instal, balance and rotate tires that they are not selling.
I'll have to double check with my local shop what it would cost if I brought in a set of take offs.

My local Discount Tire store charged me $21 per tire the other day. $3 to dismount, $3 to mount, and $15 to balance. Their website shows $20 per tire installation if I buy it from them, which is only a savings of $1.

Either way, if you spend some time looking for takeoffs you can probably find a good set of 4 for close to the price of a single new tire. I don't think there's any way that makes the math work against cheap takeoff sets, unless they're in low supply in your local classifieds for some reason.

Cooper Tires are pretty solid too. Discover AT3 or AT3 4S are pretty well-rounded tires.

Have you heard about people having an issue getting a good balancing with these tires? Have a couple issues with vibration at high speeds and 2 rebalances
