We have not heard of issues with balancing the Michelin LTX M/S tires. It's always possible but the Michelin tires as a whole balance easily. You may want to ask your shop to road force balance them to see if that helps.

I used a local Ken Towery chain here. Took it back in 3 times, with the last one being a road force balance. It did come back better, but still has some pretty good vibration north of 70mph. i feel it mostly in the seats but also feel general vibration of the car in the steeling wheel. it seems like it's better in the steering wheel bc it isn't physically shaking if i take my hands off the wheel.

other info is that it's not all the time @75mph. it is somewhat intermittent.. comes and goes.

i'm pretty close to just taking it back and having them swap the tires.

question.. could this end up getting better after the break in period on the tires, or does that not have anything bearing on vibration.

The break in period of a tire is related to traction due to mold release agents in the rubber compounding and shouldn't affect the ride quality in anyway.

Are you running O.E. wheels or aftermarket? If aftermarket which wheel?

I was told by my local Discount shop that they have had issues with Tacoma OE wheels being quite finicky.

O.E. Toyota wheels can be troublesome depending on how the wheel is clamped on to the balance machine.

A Toyota specific cone is best used and if not available a finger plate clamped to the front (for ET lugs) works too.

I've run the Michelin LTX M/S and currently have the Bridgestone A/T Revo 2 (discontinued now but they came out with the Revo 3 last year.) These two will be my first choices when my current tires wear out but I'll probably lean towards the Revos. They both get good mpg, are light, last long, and offer good traction. If I had to describe them in just a couple of words I'd say the Michelin is more of an "aggressive all-season" whereas the Revo 2/3 are more of a "light AT"....if that makes any sense :)

I'd say the LTX M/S were slightly better on mpg whereas the Revos have an edge offroad.

Does the Michelin LTX AT/2 come in a C load rating for 265/70/17 size?

Thank you for your question. The Michelin LTX AT2 comes in either a P (Standard Load) or an E Load Rating. At this time they do not make it in a C. Here is a link to them:

Please let us know if we can help.

Which would you recommend? It’s going to be for a 4runner.

They will be primarily city driving, but still want soomething good in emergency snow and heavy rain. I live in north Texas so 4x4 is light use but I don’t want a purely highway tire.

The KO2 and the LTX A/T2 are my top candidates.

I’ve had the KO2 (E load) on my Tacoma but would like something with a slightly better ride.

Michelins if you can afford them.

I have Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT's on my truck. They qualify as an M+S tire too. Zero complaints so far and Im almost 30k in so far. I get 21-23 mpg out of my first gen. Did fine on the clay trails near me as well.

The P rated Michelin LTX AT2 is a 113 load rating which is the same load rating for most 4 Runners. If yours is also a 113 and you don't off-road the P rated tire will give you the best ride quality and mileage.
