I plan on trying out the flat brembos and hawks LTS pads with SS lines eventually. At least that's the plan.

truck has 84k, no issues with brakes but need new pads now. 6 lugs oem rotor with 17" rims/tires.
    I have a F150 with drilled rotors and ceramic pads that I am very satisfied, so I was thinking about ceramic pads for the Taco;
so I called Hawk and salesman is telling me that HPS pad are better?? so I am asking feedback from anyone that are using either one.
    Appreciate any comments

I haven't put brakes on a Toyota truck since I sold my 94 pickup in 06...However, on some other vehicles, the Wagner Severe Duty worked very, very well for me.

Rock Auto has them for the two wheel drive Taco, and $34.79 but not the four wheel drive. For the four wheel drive, Rock Auto has the Raybestos Ceramic pads at $52.79.

Remember, it is not how much you spend on parts, but how wisely you spend on parts...

My 94 toy pickup, 2wd, when I sold it at 217k miles was still on the original rear brake shoes, second set of front rotors, and fourth set of front pads...the original front rotors lasted 160k miles and never warped...they just got down past the wear limits.

And the tapered timkin front wheel bearings lasted 100k a set and were $20 per side, with seals. Wouldn't that be nice.

    Curious George,
Hawk sales telling me that HPS grabbed better than Ceramic, does not dust as much as OEM pad; and our TW member think that they are better than ceramic.
I am still undecided yet, so the truck will be park until this week end.

I tow a bass boat & the ceramics have performed flawless. No dust that I have noticed. I think I paid $40-$45 for them at Advanced auto. How much are HPS? I mean you don't need ridiculously expensive pads if you aren't racing your truck on a track. Pretty much any pad is good enough. I was running OEM, until my last change & I tried ceramic. Wish I would have put ceramic on at my 1st change.

F150 has 160k, 4sets of front pads by 110k then changed rotors + ceramic pads>> held up good so far
07 Taco 4x4 bought used at 75k, oem rotor, looks like oem pads
Hawk is quoting $65 for either set, LTS ceramic or HPS
mostly in town/hiway use, looking for better performance than oem

    thanks for comments

    TACKZ,
did not mean to hijack you thread, just wanted to poll for the best pads....
Saw the survey, wanting more inputs. TW could use a decent survey for our members, Oil/Filter/brake pads are consumable that are very important to the life of your truck.
    thanks for starting the thread

My '11 Access Cab finally hit 50k miles and I figured it was time for front brakes...but when I took it apart with new pads in hand, I still had 80% of the original brakes left, and I live in the mountains.

So I put the Wagner Severe Duties in and the brakes do feel more responsive...I will repost in another 100k miles on how they are doing.

One more data point for you!

Here are my Duralast after ~30k miles, replaced pads and rotors together. Was making noise, left pad is down to the metal. That's some bullshit!

These were actually all replaced with the warranty after the first rotors I bought warped in less than 10k miles.

So, time for a different brand.

I just put some EBC yellow stuff on original OEM rotors with stainless steel lines. I like them so far they seem like they bite pretty well. The rotors haven't warped and has already been through heat cycles so I'm guessing it wont warp. I'll see how long they last.

If it just wares on one side like you have you should probably put a rebuilt caliper on it - that's what I did - problem solved.

I recently put new Toyota OEM pads on mine. They were about $110.00 from dealer parts dept. The counter guy said there were two grades of OEM pads and he ordered the better grade which came in the next day. When I installed the new pads, the original rotors were in perfect shape, barely any wear at all. I had the "brake clank/clunk" noise too. The original pads had about 46,000 on them and were about 2/3rd's gone. I have had little to no dust with either set of pads and after replacement the clunk was gone too.I have used aftermarket pads on other vehicles and they just don't seem to last, or wear out the rotors and or dust like crazy.
