    Hi,

I just bought my truck, it needs a custom 4x4 front bumper and I was wondering if anyone could show me what you got?

    Thanks,
    Rick

flatland makes a "kit" bumper... you buy the plans and have the pieces cut out, either plasma or water-jet and weld it together yourself. Costs apx $800 between the metal, the cutting and the winch. You can make it as heavy as you want or as light as you want. This is not a bolt on an go kit as the mounting of the bumper changes from year to year.

Coastal Offroad and True North Fabrications are the two bumpers I'm looking at but both are DIY kits.

I wish Southern Style Offroad would make a bumper for first gens, they're literally 2 minutes from where I work.

Something to consider when going with a heavier bumper is your spring rate. I put an arb on my truck and it totally changed the handling for the worse. It was diving hard under braking, bouncing in corners and sagging while sitting.

I ended up going with 620lb springs and it's much better.

Welcome, personally I prefer the ARB for that kinda just straight up safari style bar. But depends on the look you want. If you want an aggressive looking rock crawler style, check out relentless fabrication. I’ve heard good things about them before. But again, nothing beats the old standard ARB Aussie bumpers.

I’ve seen pictures you’ve previously shared here on the board when I started looking into this bumper. Your truck really wears it well.

If and when I get a bumper, the Shrockworks seems like a great option.

For now I’m held back by funding and sorting out the requisite suspension upgrades to support the increased weight out on the nose.

Thanks everyone and thanks Old Green Toyota for comments related to handling/springs. I’ll have plenty of sources to research and consider.

Jumping into this thread here, I have a 4wheelparts near me and am considering getting an ARB bumper and winch for my 2002 Tacoma 4x4. I can’t weld so I am looking for an economical, relatively simple bolt-on solution. Does anybody have a better idea? If not, ARB it will be....

Literally took me about 45 minutes to install my ARB, it’s pretty easy. If you’re looking for cheap bolt on, get ARB lol
