Anyone have any idea how much our stock bumpers weigh? As in basically everything you’d have to take off to install something aftermarket..

Shrockworks, very, very stout....front and rear matching. As others have mentioned if you do add weight to the front/rear you are gonna have to adjust your suspension as well i.e put a little meat under there. Your truck will thank you for it :D

    Okay, I’m sold.

What about springs? Should I replace with stiffer springs of the same length, or install a lift kit with the existing springs?

I have the TrueNorthFab plate bumper.

IMO, its the best looking winch bumper on the market for 1st gen tacos/3rd gen 4runners. you can't go wrong with the hybrid plate either.

Those are pretty light too. And not too bad on the wallet.

Buy a stock used bumper and put the savings towards paint. That thing looks like caca.

Ok I'll play, your post mentions Custom.... well i built mine from rectangular tube and one stick of DOM at the same time i plated the frame so the factory mounts are long gone but it has held up to 2 sub compact cars, trail pushing many jeeps and even supported the weight of the front end when a 3ft deep and 2 ft wide crevasse appeared magically on a trail.... Eventually i will get around to a light hoop but i havent needed one in 6+ years with the bumper so its not high on the list.

Nobody has chimed in about this yet. I’m pretty well sold on getting the ARB bumper and a winch, because I want a winch and do go off-road where a bush-bashing bumper might come in handy. But I’m concerned about adverse effects of the additional weight and need to know what people think should be done to counter them?

    4 run, 2 don't
They go with different spring rates.

600lb is what most coilovers come with, and that's good enough for a stock 4x4.

600lbs though is a bit much even on a 4x2 and ARB bumper alone; ask me how I know.

Most would move up to 650lb, or even a 14" spring but I can't comment on that.
