very good advice. well, heres my possible more reasonable verdict for me. Yesterday, i ran about 150 rounds through a brand new remington 870. i liekd the way it fired as well as the hanlding of it. granted it wasnt a HD gun but it did well when i was shooting trap with a modified choke. so, i will prolly go for the rem 870 for hunting, and for HD, ill either go with a maverick 88 HD model, Or a 500 with a shortend barrel

I have two glocks...glock 26 (my concealed carry) and a Glock 22 with night sights (sits within reach of the bed. I agree..im not gonna go out and try to be some shadow warrior just to shoot my gun...i will hang in the bedroom...but i will go and protect my son in the other room...come my way and 30 round are getting dropped down the hallway...

HELL YEAH!!!! that's why America is America...I love it when a father or anyone says stuff like that

I have a western field(yes its about 40 years old) 12 guage leaning against my headboard...granted im 20 years old and dont have a whole lot of stuff someone is going to steal from me but I do have my life and in my house there arent too many corners so a shotgun is practical and trust me ive taken the time to "practice" so to speak if a burglar or intruder was to come into my home....i live in dowtown norfolk where the crime rate is high and I just feel safer with a shotgun at my reach

    Amen to that!!
You're much better off calling 911 and just waiting. I'd even climb out the side window of the house and run to the neighbors house if I had to. Screw that..... Let the dousch-bag criminal take whatever they want.

We have a Beretta 92FS in the chest beside the bed. A loaded mag with hollowpoints sit beside in waiting. Let's hope they never get used. We have a few shotguns too - but they're just not practical to keep beside the bed.

yeah, i just noticed that. sorry.

but truth be told. for the money, i would assume that remington and mossberg are both great guns. peoples opinion is what makes them different. after all mossberg is the only shotgun to pass mil spec standards. but people say that the mossberg is a bad gun because the reciever aint made from solid steel like the remington. wat are everones thoughts on this small fact? i found that the mossberg cycles just as good if not better than the remington 870

Both in my opinion are great guns, Its like Coke and Pepsi. Fords or Chevy.

If i could I'd take both the 590 and the 870. I'm just in the same boat right now, I havent decided on which one to get. If i can find a deal on either one then I'll get it.

my findings is that local gun shops tend to be a little more on the cheaper side towads gun purchases. Does anyone know if NRA members get a discount on firearms?

I voted other, just bought a Springfield XD Sub Compact .40 with a laser grip. Nothing like seeing a red dot between your eyes to know you're messing with the wrong f*cking house.
