At least you're not afraid to expose your ignorance.

You will not hit a moving target, closing on you from 10 feet, under duress, with two shots....hard enough to double tap a stationary target at the range.
    You're not that good.
If you hit 'center mass' (must've heard that on TV or video game) the perp will bleed out on you with HIV and hep-C tainted blood while he takes the gun away from you and uses it on you.
I regularly hit pepperpoppers at 21' in IPSC, about 80% first shot.
If you get flashed by my flashlight in a darkened room, you won't be able to see what happens to you next.
Any more wit and wisdom you want to share with the world?
Actually, I'm done with this thread.
The rest of you experts talk amongst yourselves.

Thinkingman, just out of curiosity? Do you have any experience to this? LEO, Army, Marines, ect? Or are you just speaking from what you think? Tigerfan is a LEO i'm pretty sure he has had training to deal with this. His dept didnt just give him a gun and say here go protect people. Also if you are done, why are you still reading this thread.

    <sucked back into the vortex>
If he's an LEO, he's very familiar with the 7yd rule...or he cheated on the exam or his uncle is the sheriff and he walked into the role.
If he's an LEO, he knows that a perp full of meth can perform super-human feats that defy explanation and his two shots 'center mass' will not disable the CNS and a world of bad shit is still coming his way.
If he's an LEO, he is trained on use of a taclite and wouldn't discount their use as deterrent/tactical advantage.
If he's an LEO, I may have shot next to him at my last IPSC match.
I am laughing at 90% of the shit I see posted on Tacoma world.
I guess I'm just not that easily impressed.

In re the last line...I want my family, with the phone, moved away from the action.
Bullets don't know where they're going.
My wife and son will be in the bathtub(cast iron, better than nothing) while I attempt to draw any action away from them.
The sound the 911 operator will hear are (loudly) 'STOP-GET AWAY...STOP-GET AWAY!'...POP POP POP.
Remember the old saying...when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Have you ever been under that situation where someone was coming at you and you had to shoot them? Or in any situation where you had someone at gun point? Your mind reacts to different situation differently, Pistol matches and Real life matter are different. You can be the Best at pistol matches but when you are being shot at or in a situation like that you won't know what to do. In a Match your mind is telling you no one is shooting or hurting me, therefore the amount of adrenaline is not as high to as when you being shot at or shooting back.

    Rain Visors,
If you want to speak of ignorance, you should try judging people based on their own merits, and what they are capable of. You are basing your opinions on what you think others are capable of.
Me personally feel very competant to wake up half asleep pull a handgun in low light, with my heartbeat at 200BPM and hit my target, in a dead zone, ie one shot instant lights out.
I have been trained to do so, I have been in gun fights, I have full confidence in my training.

That's me, who knows what everyone else is capable of, what ever they are you aren't the one to judge them, and futher more make opinions and criticism about what they can do.

So don't call people ignorant because YOU don't think it's possible, or if you'd like try to break into my house one night while I'm half asleep and see what happens. = )

Also what class do you shoot in when competing? ( this not a I shoot better then you question, it's a I know a lot of IPSC shooters and was just curious question

wow.. it sure did get a little heated in here. many people have valid points on this subject. as far as tigerfan's remarks and his abilites, i feel safe in presuming he knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to self defense. i do agree that perps that are pumped up with drugs are very capable of doing crazy things, however i trust that either a full mag from my pistol or acouple rounds of buckshot will prevent anything furthur. i am curious though why you feel the need to yell loud enough for the 911 operator to hear "STOP" ? if i'm intent enough to shoot him i'm not really concerned about saying anything at all..

taking someones life, even in self defense, is not an easy task for anyone. and every person will react differently to those situations. personally i am confident in what i have learned and been trained to do and i think the best thing about hearing everyones different opinions on the subject is it allows each person to think about it and decide for themselves.

the way i see it is the cops are gonna do their thing either way, so if someone has broken into your house in the middle of the night obviously its a possibility that they are their to do you or your family harm. their warning that i didnt want them there was in the form of the door being locked, other than that the only warning they will get is seeing the muzzle flash.

Wow, I might be a civilian, but I have been around guns all my life, I don't "clear rooms" or kill Russians like in Red Dawn, but when it comes to home defense, my bedroom has small windows, also I have my step dog that barks at a flea fart, so no one is "walking" through my window at night. In Florida all there has to be is a threat of violence and the guy being dead on the floor is good enough. Castle Docterine. Just wait till he is within range and blamo. Dead Bad Guy. Cops file a report you go back to bed. BTW my blamo is a 1941 USGI 1911 .45 with Hydrashocks and an Ithica Featherlight 37 DS Police Special with 00 Buck.

Hmmm...I got to thinking, and if a little flashlight can temporarilly blind you.....How come people arent going bling at night when someone hits their high beams?? Those are clearly much more light out put than a little flash light........Just thinking out loud here....
