So I'm familiar with several of the manufacturers of hood struts for our 3rd Gen - Redline Tuning, Spiker Engineering, and SokieTech. Which one of these works best for Tacoma's with the 6MT transmission? Or does it not matter? Your feedback is appreciated.

I don't understand the question; what does your transmission have to do with a hood strut? Is it Friday yet?

Different drive trains have different engine bay encumbrances. So what works in one may not work with others.

OP, I'd stick with @RedlineTuning or @SpikerEng , as both have strut solutions that work with your truck.

Sorry, not buying; I seriously doubt there is any difference between an automatic Tacoma and a 6MT Tacoma when it comes to fender or hood or anything else in that region of the engine bay.

Continue believing what you want. The MT and the AT have differences amongst them, and some accessories are not cross compatible. Fuse trays for example are different. Brake boosters, master cylinders, etc are different amongst models.

Those items are irrelevant when it comes to something like a hood strut. Yeah, I get it, my truck has three pedals under the dash, most only have two, but that in no way would change how the hood or fenders are set up.

It has to do with where the struts attach in the engine bay compartment and accessories in the engine bay. But if you don't believe it's necessary, that's your opinion.

Do you have the 6MT transmission?

Thank you OP. Sometimes we'll never know unless we ask and talk about it.

It would matter if the left strut interfered with the fender mounted clutch reservoir on the manual OR/Pro. Shouldn't matter at all on a Sport since the clutch hydraulics on Sports pull from the brake res.

I would love to see a build thread with an MT specific strut setup with something else using the space or clearance where the auto struts mount. I don't care which day it gets posted.

Off road trim: you can add second battery in back of the engine bay on the left side of you when you face the engine behind the filter system.

Sport trim, you can NOT add second battery in that spot but you can add dual batteries in same spot as factory battery placement. (but not sure about '24 models, I have not seen them in person yet)

If you still don't believe, then go to the dealer and look at the trims.. open the hood and look at each model... you will see why.

Sokietech. No drilling and have worked great for multiple years on several 3rd gen Tacomas.

Early manuals need to space out the clutch fluid reservoir on the driver side. I switched over to the single Spiker setup (from the original 2 strut setup) because the driver side strut interfered with my Switch Pro mount.

It's a hood strut. It attaches to the hood and fender. Neither have anything to do with the transmission. Wait... "You need a new rear armrest? What transmission is in that Tacoma."

You guys are having a hard time with this concept...

Yes, the hood struts will fit, regardless of transmission type, assuming OP doesn't have other underhood accessories that prohibit them. However, what I'm supporting is OP asking the question, as there are certain engine bay accessories that fit only and MT or AT.

No, they are not having a hard time with it. They are screwing with the OP and obviously you, just for the hell of it because, well, they can.
