    Wow!

Im at Dealership (I trust this place with my truck) and sitting in the waiting room.

Log onto TW and Lo and behold, a hood strut thread.

    On Taco Tuesday, even! lol

Seems like pre-installed gadgets may interfere with the placement of the riveted points for the hood struts…I bought the ones that I drilled holes into the metal to rivet.

OP, hope you find hood struts for your MT.

Pretty lame troll, if that's the case. Regardless, I'm here for OP. Hopefully he makes notes of who the local twats are.

    ...too much shit to list.
I’m getting real sick and tired of the assholes, with nothing productive to add to genuine questions, shitposting all over this site. I’m done with warnings. Vacations are next and depending on your history, it will be 30 or perma.

Yes sir I haven’t started using it here but other places the ignore feature works really well if you don’t have to see those individuals garbage posts

I wish I had something to add for the OP that was worthwhile but I don’t have the lift shocks and I don’t plan on putting any on as that would just be one more thing too. Have to mess with and replace it a later date for me, the prop rod works just fine and it’s pretty much bulletproof

I haven’t really researched these enough to speak intelligently about them. I have been interested in, however, the prop rod is pretty much unbreakable.

There is one brand that only uses one shock. That kind of makes me leery that it would cause some kind of uneven wear on the hinge points. it would also cause a side pressure when pulling it down closed.

I chose the Redline extra height struts for my '17 DCSB OR MT, and have been very satisfied with them. I hate hood props with a passion, except as a back up means of keeping the hood open.

I installed the Sokietech pair in my '22 OR 6MT. Very easy to install, works well. So well that I bought a pair for my car. I wish I knew about this Sokietech years ago, I would have installed them back when the car was new (2015 Hyundai 6MT) instead of depending on that hood prop rod all these years.

I have Redline regular length struts and they work perfectly for me. Makes life a whole lot easier when you are older with less arm strength. As a suggestion the drill adaptor that can be purchased at a hardware store or on line makes installing the pop rivets a lot easier.

wouldn't careful apportionment of force mitigate this (stand in front of strut)?

If you emailed them, I'm sure we'd hungrily read your tale

sure they could possibly help. But let me see this, if you go and look at mini junkyards around the country, you’ll find many of the mid seventies to mid eighties Chevy trucks in the scrapyards with a creased hood.

Basically, what happens with them was this. Over time the hinges would wear and corrode. Owners would simply pull down on the hood, thus created a buckle or crease in the middle when the hood bound up. The prevention to that, for those that knew about it, was to push aft while starting to pull down.

So yes, for somebody that analyzes the operation of the hood in would actually pay attention to what they’re doing, this single shock might not be a problem. But like I said, as these hinges wear, and as corrosion sets in, the one hood shock creates an uneven intention across the entire hood. This is my point.

Not everyone is going to visit this form and pick up on your suggestion.

I don't remember seeing any mention of type of transmission either...but then again, I don't add any components that would crowd the sides of the engine bay.

I'm ready to watch the NLCS...I bet you are! lol
