Heading back to the Coast in a week. Seeing the need for a Roof Top awning to mount on roof rails of my
    cap.

I would love an ARB… but way too much money for us right this second.

any other thoughts/vendors from local folks?

Ironman is having a 25% off labor day sale, would apply to their awnings I’d imagine

well; now I scooped the 6x8 at the motivational talk with your staff @WormSquirts … any advice for a a way to get this mounted to an RSi Smartcap with Smartcap rails tomorrow morning … pretty quickly?

the rhino Rack universal kit (3111) doesn’t work for this application.

    Glad you could find one!

For mounting, without any rack at all might be tricky. You just have the tracks and not the load bars? Short of making something custom, drilling holes in your canopy or buying and installing a rack, I'm not sure if I'm honest.

We do have prinsu top racks in stock for the 6' bed if that's what you have. Off the top of my head I'm not sure if we have the 5' version in stock. That's a lot to spend just to mount an awning though.

I'm trying to think of a way without getting a rack of some sort, but there's not really a good option... The RSI loadbars are probably the cheapest and easiest rack to use but it's not something we typically stock.

I feel like we haven't really been much help for you haha!

Dont worry… your team was helpful.

I do have the RSi load bars and the folks from modular rack thought their universals would work. But it didn’t.

so… I do have the load bars; I do have the ARB I’m desperate to get it mounted. NSOR has the OVS 270 mounting brackets but they want a lot of money for them. So again, I wanted to check with you.

    thanks so much!!!

And @WormSquirts I’m happy to roar to surrey in the morning to support you guys; but wanted to double check first.

I have to pack two toddler stuff, two dogs and all the surf gear. So I don’t want to lose time when I can pop-in get things sorted.

I don’t want free help either. And I’m sorta useful. Just want to make sure this thing doesn’t come off in the I5 etc.

    thanks again

So referring to my attached photo. Essentially none of the supplied hardware fit with the ARB channels… nor into the rails of the RSi load bars.

Also, the 31111 kit only has a single hole on one side. Instead of the two in their other kit.

all things being equal the brackets appeared to work. Just not the hardware.

I believe we have a similar rhino rack kit that has two holes for the rail side. Also, the ARB awning should come with the hardware required to bolt it to the mount.

If you give the store a call in the morning, we open at 10 (just until the end of this week when our hours change) and ask if we possibly have the long version in stock. https://overlandoutfitters.ca/produ...universal-mounting-kit?variant=31723020845141

If we are sold out I would be surprised if modula didn't have the long version in stock

thanks for mentioning the bolts with the ARB. I was definitely missing those!!

I can see why people recommend the OVS bracket as it will drop the awning down a bit to limit the cap that the load bar towers create.

Well, I thought I’d at least post up some pics of the Awning I selected (I’ve posted elsewhere… sorry for the duplication of you saw elsewhere).

I’m still waiting for RSi to advise why M8 bolts don’t slide in my load bars as I’m running some sketchy M6’s with square nuts to hold place.

I did select an OVS (Overland Vehicle Systems) 270LT Awning. At 53lbs it offers an immense amount coverage for not too much weight… if you don’t include the mounting brackets that add 5lbs to the overall weight.

it wasn’t inexpensive and was more than I envisioned when heading into this thought.
