I've done it before and as long as the water doesn't dry it doesn't.

If you don't live in the dry hot desert, consider yourself lucky when washing your truck. Here in AZ in the summer I have to have my kid run the hose just to keep the truck wet while I'm washing it. We have super hard water here and if it dries it leaves nasty water spots that are a b***h to get off. Getting it dry without spots is a serious work out. I use a Microtex drying towel from Walmart and it works great.

After hand washing with frequently rinsed-out mitts, I just give it one final soaking with the hose then go for a 5-10 mile blast down the freeway.

All dry and no spots when I get back home. :D
