That's something I miss about my single cab Nissan small truck. The access cab isn't that much bigger but the ac needs to cool that wasted space behind me.

I’m starting to see a trend here. Looks like the other guy owns a DCLB too.

I recently serviced a 3rd gen with the newer style refrigerant (r1234yf). For only having 18 Oz refrigerant it cooled nicely, temps in the mid 40s at the dash vents. Outside temp was low/mid 80s

Super expensive though, just over 1 lb cost the customer $140 just in freon. Older refrigerant is $30 per lb

2018 I believe.. but I've only seen a small handful of cars with the new style refrigerant. I'll see more in the next few years as customers leave the dealerships and start going to independent garages

Unless you have rear seating vents I think that's the reason, and even at that I'd surmise the system has the same capacity as a smaller cab.

Same reason my heat can warm up the truck in 3 minutes even though I leave it outside all year long in the MA winter.

That's just it, nailed it. Then again you always seem to.

its garbage compared to other AC systems

i had an '09 CX-9 which is a veritable mansion in cab space relative to the taco and that AC kept it ice cold with zero issue

Mine has exceptional turn overs and the differentials are fantastic. It is an R134 system in a single cab.

Actually the system needs to remove the heat from the area behind you.

    Back to the subject.

Since it hasn’t been suggested yet….

Ultimate headlight upgrade. Yes it’s non mechanical but ranks pretty high in functionality and safety.

I feel like that may be a justification for the cost of said upgrade. They function the same way. You turn them on and they produce light and as far as safety I would have to see some data but I don’t feel there are many accidents because the stock lights are inadequate. Is a cool mod though.

Not implying the stock setup is unsafe. More light thrown down road at a longer distance is safer. Especially in rural areas with the possibility of animal collisions. That’s the point I was aiming for.
