funny you don't like one of the best edc blades on the market.

    the thread states military/tactical blades...

zero tolerance end of thread unless you want to pop for a strider.

smith and wesson cold steel what ever sog even kershaw themselves do not make knives on the level of zero tolerance.

they are on the level of strider when it comes to what kind of abuse they can be put to. the titanium frame lock zt is a beast i own that one and the 350 linerlock and it's the beefiest liner lock i have ever seen even that one is stab worthy lol.

the zero tolerance or strider are what you should be looking into for a folder.

to clarify if you are going to be possibly relying on this knife in a combat environment those are what i would choose. same goes for fixed blades k-bar's 1095 crovan is awesome when applied to bk&t knives becker invented the sharpened pry bar strider and busse for a true tactical fixed blades that will never let you down they are very hard to screw up!

which means that they hold an edge and will be there when and if you ned to resort to a knife for either fighting or really doing anything survival minded.

Just wondering, and not in any way attempting to be critical, but why do you carry a machete with you? Has there been an incident that gave you a reason to? Or do you carry it 'just in case', for that situation you can't predict or anticipate? Sounds like a great idea to have one in a vehicle, in my opinion.

I've needed it a couple of times...not often

Couple of weeks ago we responded to a snake call and it turned out to be the biggest copperhead I've ever seen and he was super pissed off

one good whack with the machete and he wasnt angry anymore

Also used it to clear a path into an overgrown area where we had caught a burglary suspect to recover evidence

Makes sense to me. I'll have to consider putting mine in the truck. Do you sharpen the machete with a stone? Grinder? A metal file?

I carry a machete fishing with me...... dont usually take it out though. If I need to cut some brush it comes out. I like the copperhead story though, that would be helpful.

And you dont really have to sharpen a machete though. The blade is thin enough and as long as you are not carving a turkey with it, the swing is what does the cutting.

The reason you don't see too many of us recommending those knives, is because in our line of work you tend to abuse tools and lose things you put in your pocket. I won't carry a $200 knife in the field because I don't want to risk losing it or I'll be in a situation where I need to use the knife as a pry bar, hammer, etc. and it just makes me cringe to pry on shit with a $200 knife.

I carry Cold Steel, Kershaw, Gerber, etc. Acceptable quality and affordable price.

Used to have CRKT M16-14, which I loved and it was "misplaced" somehow. Now I have a Benchmade 9101 Auto Stryker...was issued so there you go. Its pretty solid, but honestly I would spend my own money on it.

i carry a knife every day and i never lost one in my life.

what is your line of work? if you are military and or le and the knife could possibly be used to save your ass one day i want a knife i can do anything with.

it may hurt your butt a little to beat on a 500 dollar knife but, knives are tools and i view them as such it have a strider that can do shit that would completely destroy my other knives.

you pay for what you get in the knife world it depends on what you are asking it to do. the heat treatment on a busse with the infini steel is light years ahead of any other fixed blade save for a strider.

now for camping i use becker knife and tool blades bk-9 and bk-2 both are tough easy to sharpen and cheap.

in my bug out bag in a shit hits the fan scenario my striders zero tolerance and busse are the only things that are in there.

military and le may use their knives in a situation that requires stabbing. ie to puncture a tire or a person if need be and if it was me i would need to know my knife would not lose a tip or fold up on me under hard use. imho thats worth a couple hundred more dollars but, i'm fucking crazy like that lol

i have more than a few knife manufactures in my collection benchmade kershaw and spyderco. i have stopped carrying all of them in favor of my strider and zero tolerance 350 for my edc both of those knives i have beat to hell and they are as brand new.

also when i say beat i mean beat the shit out of them my zt 350 in particular is a bamf with out a doubt! prying shit and stabbing shit cutting everything from thick rubber to sheet metal! and frequently it does a better job than a razor imho.

it has been in the ocean plenty of times and has been in mud so bad that it took me three washing to get it al out lol and once it's cleaned up a bit and oiled its like new. like i said you pay for what you get.

for folders i would recommend zero tolerance their price tag is not high at all for what you get! 200 bucks basically for a strider with a different stamp on it is an awesome thing.

now i'm not talking about the nightmare grinds or anything like that from strider lol.

a good sng or pt will never let you down they just keep on trucking.

everyones idea of "hard use" is different but mine is do anything in any environment.

like i said i have knives that i carry sometimes that i would never subject to the abuse that i put my zt and strider to just because i know they are not made for it they would either fold on me or break all together.
