    Active duty Military Police.

There's not a Soldier out there that hasn't lost a knife or flashlight in the field. It just happens. We carry so much gear, getting in and out of tight spaces (vehicles), sprinting in that gear, hitting the dirt, etc. that it just happens. I'm far more concerned about keeping tabs on my radio, my sidearm, my NVG's, and other sensitive items than a pocket knife.

Using a knife as a weapon is pretty much fantasy. Happened once or twice in ten years of warfare. I'd rather carry another magazine, or just ditch the extra weight, in place of fixed blade fighting knife.

As an MP on patrol, I'll go for my ASP baton way before I go for a knife.

Well you see the sewer system acts to harden an temper the poo, so when it's done and you stab someone it makes a nice squirt sound and splits open like a banana.

    workin' on that...
I've had my LMF II for years, the thing is a beast. I've pried apart rock with it and it did not bend, as well as standard bivouac tasks.

As for folding blade I agree with MR Grimm. I dont have the special edition, but my M16-14M civilian version has earned a stripe or two.

    PS
Raid Ops makes solid full tang blade, but its a bit pricey - I got the LJ4M2S (its a sexy little beast).

Also, if anyone is ever near Moss Landing CA, there is a surplus store there with the biggest and best knife selection i've ever seen in person. Down side is once again - pricing. (LMFII was around $130!! wtf?! - Cough, cough, Amazon.com, cough, cough)
