My favorite mod that has transfered from vehicle to vehicle was my dashcam.

Easily my favorite $70 I've spent, and after adding about another $10 in hardware to hardwire it in its just been phenomenal. I can disconnect it and bring it inside whenever I want too - so when I'm at a friends house I bring it inside with me, and just put it in one of their home's windows that is looking right at my vehicle.

It is motion activated, can do instant playback, record on standard SD cards, etc. They are great to record an accident; whether you, or someone else's - to show friends crazy driving conditions, or perform as a security camera aiming from your residence out at your vehicle.

Mine runs on batteries for several hours when recording, and the rest of the time it is just dormant waiting for motion.

I'm overseas for about another month, but I will do a full write-up on the install in my Tacoma when I get home. Lots of pictures will be taken, don't worry.

For now I will leave you with the model I use and a link to buy your own.

I ordered mine through Ali Express - but be aware there are many chinese fakes on the market. I have linked an article that gives good information on where to look below the Aliexpress.com link.

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-...en-140-Degrees-Wide-Angle-HDMI/529489381.html

    Good info:

    http://dashcamtalk.com/dvr-027-720p/

There are of course many other models that are cheaper (lower resolution and other problems), and there are way better ones that are only marginally more expensive (some great cams in the $110-130 range). I've liked the 027 because it rewrites on the same SD card (if you use up your recording time, it simply re-writes over the old stuff - assuming it wasn't important.) Its a good well rounded cam for a cheap price tag. I'm not AS worried about someone stealing it.

Advice on cams: Get something with IR capability if you want to put it inside your home to look out at your vehicle. If its inside the truck the headlights do a decent job. Get something with battery AND hardwire abilities (can be plugged in and charged 12v while also in operating mode). Some of them wont operate while charging, and vice versa. The batteries on these die over time (mine went bad in about a year), so get a camera that allows you access to them. Nearly any battery store has them, and they can also be ordered easily online. Some guys are huge proponents of 1080i. I find that 720 is a great resolution, gives me plenty of recording time, and is more manageable if I want to load and play on my computer. I've got an older desktop though.

A word of advice on SD Cards: Get something your computer can handle, and make sure you get the fastest possible card available. You can find 32GB high speed cards for under $50 if you look around. Sometimes even cheaper for multiple cards if you look on the DSLR forums for cannon, nikon, etc. Guys sell and trade them like poker chips around there.

I think short shifter has the lead at the moment. Will the trd version work on my sr5? Are the other (better) brands?

Since it was mentioned, I tried the anytime fog light mod and could never get it to work. I used the splice method in the fuse box and could not get brights when fogs were on. Also, what is the purpose of a bed mat? I rarely haul stuff other than trash.

The purpose of the bedmat is to prevent items in the back from sliding around. It also leaves a layer of rubber between the object you're loading and the composite bed material - so in the event you drop a heavy, sharp object onto it, it won't damage it.

I too would be interested in some pics. I just watched the movie End of Watch and saw some guy this morning driving too fast in the snow and wipe out and thought it would be neat to have a camera.

Let us know when you get a chance.
