Some people would say you should get the 245s because they have less width and will bite deeper into the snow, and have more resistance to hydroplaning.

The Tire Rack site is usually reliable, enter your truck's details and you can price out a number of packages. Any steel wheel will do the job, just sand off the rust in the spring and hit it with a black rattle can of Rustoleum or similar.

I have 245s for that reason.

I was actually just messing around with the tire rack winter tire/wheel packages but it wouldn’t bring up any steel wheels. Wouldn’t really want to spend a lot on wheel if they are just for the winter.

Aftermarket or refurbished stock steel rims are around $50 each online.

Edit: Sets of new take-offs on Ebay w/ center caps for $270-280 shipped.

You try reaching out to Falken about these? Seems a bit quick for 1 year/12k

I think it’s ok. The trails I ride have some pretty rough rocks and it’s also my daily driver with wet conditions (tires wear faster when wet). That was the main reason I put good ADS coil overs on because the OME suspension sucked and literally jarred my brain (medium coils)

Howdy neighbor! This will be my second winter with Falken AT3W's in stock size (for me) 245/75r16. I've been very happy with their performance in snow, but nothing really competes with actual snow tires.

I'll be buying a set of snows next year, since I'll have the space to store them finally. Most likely will go 235/85/r16, for extra skinny and a little taller. They'll go on my stock steelies and new AT tires will go on some 1st Gen tundra wheels I bought a while back.

Hey neighbor! Thanks for the input. Question for you kind of off topic. Did you buy your truck at a local(ish) dealer? I’m planning to buy in the next year or so and was curious if you did a lot of shopping around with different dealers in the area or if you recommend one over the other? Or if one is willing to negotiate price more than others? I’m west of the city but I’m willing to drive if it means saving some cash. Thanks!

I did, I bought my truck at Dorschel Toyota in Henrietta.

When I was shopping I was just generally looking for a truck, after test driving a Colorado and a Frontier went there for a test drive. Ended up liking the Tacoma most, and ended up buying there. They are one of those "no haggle" places but the price they gave me was very competitive, and they went out of their way to find the exact truck I wanted.

I probably could've done more leg work, but I got a base model so the savings would have been minimal. I got the truck I wanted at a fair price and didn't have to do any running around or email tag so I'm happy .
