I have an 06 tacoma 4.0L auto and was wanting to get more power out of it. Especially in the lower because I drive back and forth to college on freeways going about 80 and it wants to shift down to 3rd every little hill you go up. I have 275/65/18 duratracs..I know that's not helping anything but I'd like to get more power all around but for sure some out of the lower end rpm range. I also have a flowmaster super 44 but I've read they don't do much. I've read a lot about the bully dog tuner and quite a few people on here seem to not like them or the customer service they have. I've also been looking at the urd reviews and it seems that a lot of people have the maf calibrator but if I understand right, it is only for when the engine is At wide open throttle. Id like to know if there are any other tuners or urd accessories that would do what I want. Also what exactly does the apr x-1 do and how expensive is it? Id prefer to stay under $600.

Under $600 you won't find a tuner that actually works for our trucks. You are an 06 so that's good, you can look at URDs UCON system, but it's pricey. There aren't really any cheap ways to get your truck to go faster

You can also get a plug n play harness and wire a MAF Calibrator into it. That will gain you a little. Map-ECU 3 is the next better choice. There is also a Megasquirt.

URD's UCON is the easiest as far as tuning is concerned.

the maf cal will also help add power to the low end with a trade off in mpg.... I just got the unichip but not installed yet.... or one on of the urd controllers that can add timing, adding fuel helps a lot but mpgs go down, adding timing is free HP.... and the 4.0 runs at 18-20 while accelerating and that's way too low....

Amazing when you think that they do this for every diesel that comes out and they make significant HP improvements! There were a ton of options for my Duramax!
