People thought they were too big and just Tundra wannabe's. Only made for the North American market and would be crap like the T100s...

I'm guessing that the 17's in your area don't come with any type of factory warranty?

I have read several Threads here where the guys say there are 200,000 Gen 3's out running flawlessly with Zero Issues and the only problems are 2 or 3 guys on here. Just out of curiosity today I scoped out a few other different Forums and even YouTube and found similar issues to what is seen on this board, Weak Feeling and Noisy Engines, Transmission and Rear Ends, Interior Rattles, Hard to turn Climate Controls, Constant Rebooting Radios, Severe Water Leaks, Vibrations, Shutting down out on the Highways, and Assortments of Warning lights going off.

Money isn't really that big of an issue. More worried about reliability. As a bonus I already know how to fix all the problems that will come up on the 2nd gen.[/QUOTE]
4.0 is a proven motor no debate there.
The third gen which I will get shit for, has had a lot of memebers bitch about all sorts of issues. To me it has not proven itself yet.

I was in the same boat 3 weeks ago. I figured the 2017 would be all fixed compared to the 16s. I bought a loaded TRD OR with the auto. I was wrong unfortunately. It's not all bad with this truck however I am very down on it right now considering mine has 560 miles in it and has issues my almost 300k 1999 first gen has never had. The good sadly does not out weigh the bad.

I will be writing an in depth review of my 2017 this weekend.

My Tacoma's have been great Vehicles, I had my 2000 for 8 Years and problems were a cracked windshield washer tank and a power steering pump. My 2008 for 7 1/2 Years and problems were a brake light bulb, a parking light bulb, and a 2 second noise from the AC Compressor on the first turn on of the day. My 2015 is 1 1/2 Years old and it needed access cab door latches adjusted and nothing else. I have a 2017 on order and would expect it to be at the same quality of the previous 3 but my confidence is not so sure.

Can we stop with the reviews already. If you like your truck. Just say you like it. If you don't. Just say that too. One sentence is plenty.

Might also be good to find out what kind of issues he is having to pass onto and benefit other owners too.

At least you have a username that fits the 3rd gen already!

I never owned a Tacoma before but I heard amazing things about reliability. I'm so disappointed in this truck. I've spent enough time in the shop to warrant a lemon law claim. I've spent more time in the shop with this brand new vehicle than I spent in the shop with all of my previous high mileage used vehicles combined.

They still haven't fixed the rear diff howl. That's a huge deal. People on here minimize it or just deal with it because "hurkaderp it's a truck!" But it's completely unacceptable.

According to VA law I have 6 more months to file a lemon law claim. I'm on the fence about it. If the truck didn't have these issues it would be the perfect truck for me. Toyota is very slowly releasing TSBs for all of the issues. They better come out with one for the diff howl soon.

In the meantime, I'll just keep taking my truck in and costing corporate $2k a pop to throw parts and time at the truck. I'm probably at least in the $12-15k range of warranty claim work.

I want this to be so expensive for them that they have no other choice. I recommend everyone else do the same.
