best options to replace lift block

    02 double cab prerunner supercharged
    nasty dent on driver's side bed panel, shabby seats, cigarette burned interior roof, missing berf bar pad, cracked rain visor, removed hood scoop, unmentionable stain on back bench?
    I have a toytec AAL along with a 1.5" block in the rear as well. The AAl is great, but I do believe that little aluminum block is the bane of the truck's exsistence and the cause of some drive line vibrations. My question is, What is the best option to replace that block and keep some height on the rear end? Are shackles a viable option?

    What's your total lift amount? Are you close to 3" of total lift WITH the blocks?

    I'd replace everything and get a new leaf pak that matches the lift you need.

    In terms of vibrations.... the LIFT is most likely causing the vibration (not the blocks themselves). It's probably drive-line vibes. Anytime you lift a truck - especially that much lift, you cause the driveshaft to operate out of its normal curve.

    Do you have any pictures of your driveshaft & pinion?

    Does the vibration occur all the time while driving? Or does it occur at certain speeds?

    If the vibration is mild, we probably won't be able to see that in a picture (of the pinion & driveshaft/u-joint).

    Axle shims are your best bet for driveline vibrations. A 2 or 2.5 degree shim would probably be what you need (that's the smallest degree available). However - you can't use an axle shim with a lift block. Two options - research and look for a lift block that has a 2.5degree shim built in (I've never heard of something like this being available), replace the entire leaf pak with a 3" lift leaf pak (getting rid of the blocks & install axle shims).

    After all that - it's uncertain whether your vibrations are going to go away.

    Are you sure its not a bad balance on a tire? Bad wheel?

    Just to add to what Janster has said make sure that you have installed a carrier bearing drop as well and if you need to fine tune it you can use washers to create the correct drop to correspond with your lift.

    He can try a carrier bearing drop first...... (I've never been a fan of the carrier bearing drop - and why I didn't suggest it)

    But ultimately, if he uses axle shims - shouldn't need the carrier bearing drop.

    can u use angled blocks with a lift? cause thats what got rid of my driveline vibrations. that is, if your still gonna go with blocks

    Yeah.... a block with the built-in angle would be ideal if he stays with blocks.

    I didn't know they even existed.

    yup top quality stuff...the blocks are meant to fit our leafs and are longer than universal blocks.

    alot of us lowered trucks run his stuff....because most of the time we need to run blocks because leafs can only drop us so much...and its pretty much the best blocks out there
