I am hard-wiring a dashcam to a place that has +12V when the key is in the Ignition position. I have the Toyota wiring book for my 1998 Tacoma TRD but am getting confused with all the wiring diagrams.

Where is the best place (best = don't have to completely dismantle the dash  ) to connect my power wire? The power wire is fused, and again, I only want power on it when the key is in the Ignition position.

    ...we'll get there.
So you don't want it on when you're set to accessory OR run? You could use a fuse tap for that. The panel by your left knee is only energized when the key is turned to acc or run. That's probably your easiest install

I wired the dashcam's positive lead to the Black and Red wire coming out of the white plug to the ignition switch and the ground lead to the frame behind the glove box. The dashcam turns on when the key is in the Ignition position-otherwise it is off.

Like the other fella mentioned, i too would have used a fuse tap at the in cab fuse panel. That woulda been far easier than spliceing into the main ignition wires and much less intrusive.

But you got er dun it sounds like, good work...
