Tennessee is really great! Mild climate, lakes all over, mountians towards the east, no state income tax, economy starting to pick up again, affordable housing, some snow in the winter, close to the beaches to the east or south, and really good lookin' women! What more can a fella ask for?

Last year Irvine, California was the third best city to live in the US. I don't remember the other two though.

gowing up dad was in the Air Force and i moved about every 2 years so i lived in a lot of different places. If i could go back to anywhere it would be Montana or Wyoming. mostly cus i dont like living around people. and land is pretty cheap. find something that borders national forest and you are golden

I was born n raised in CA, and now live in KY. I couldnt justify spending 3-400K on a starter house in the ghetto, so I fled. The Midsouth is Ok, affordable housing, good schools, nice people etc....but other than that, that is it. I never knew how much I would miss CA until I was gone. I say stick to the southwest.

None of the above. Of all the places I've lived (and there are dozens) the one that has everything you want in outdoor activity as well as urban economy and high tech- Boise Idaho. If you take your job with you, you've got it made.

You can't go wrong with Texas women. And there's plenty of them too.

IBM is here. John Deere. Right on the Mississippi river. 300k buys you one of the nicest houses around. 90k got me a 3br, 1ba, 2 car garage with a .75 acre fenced in yard. 3 hrs from Chicago. There's no such thing as traffic. 6 of the nicest outdoor recreation areas in the Midwest.

Do a search about it online. We've been in the top 5 with a population under 100,000 for quite some time.

Lots of bars & churches though. Typical Irish-Catholic community.

And I'm pretty sure I am the only asshole that lives here; at least the only one who makes it a point of pride!

Good luck in your search. Check out Asheville, NC too.

Your description does sound a lot like the NW would fit you well. Only problem is any time other than summer the water is very cold. And the ocean is always cold. LOTS of outdoor activities though. Especially skiing/snowboarding. Most micro brews in the US iirc. Lots of people move here from california. I was in only 1 school district growing up and I remember almost every new kid was from california.

I've thought about moving off and on, and if i do ever end up moving, i'm pretty sure it would be somewhere in texas. I think i would really like it there.

Well as of right now, I am still a student... I am double majoring in Management as well as Marketing. I am trying to get into international business though. I realize that this career choice will not keep me in Montana. It hurts a little bit, but I have come to accept it.

I moved from Long Beach Ca to Portland Oregon 15 years ago. The only thing I miss about Ca is the beaches but it's only 2 hours away by plane so it's not a big deal. The cost of living is less up here and there is a lot to do. The summers are awesome. The only downside is that the rainy winters can get long some years.

I love Atlanta but I would definitely give Austin or Dallas TX a try. I also love charlotte and the raleigh/durham area of NC. The closer I am to the Outer Banks of NC the better.

I can do my job anywhere that has an internet connection and has a decent airport and highway access closeby since I travel sometimes. I'm thinking about moving to Wilmington NC since we have an office there I can work from and live on Topsail Beach. I love the water.

My girl wants me to move out to colorado but I dunno if I could be that far away from an ocean.

I would consider chicago if it wasn't so damn cold there in the winter. I hate the cold. The midwest is really beautiful in the summer time.
