Vancouver Island owners: Do you recommend a store for a good deal on tires? I’m looking to replace my stock tires with either Duratracs or KO2’S.

It’s not the known for the best techs but you can get 24 months 0 interest buying tires at Canadian tire. Rebates as well on Duratracs.
If your on a budget but want new tires.
    I bought used - like new KO2s off a 2020 Rubicon, 5 - 285 70 17 for $900.

    I’m on Vancouver Island

just bought 4 Michelin Agilis CrossClimate for my f350.

I ordered them through Quattro Tires online. They shipped for 55 bucks to Nanaimo. The price they listed beat Costco prices by 25 bucks per tire, and they offered a site wide 8% off discount on any set of tires.

I got all 4 delivered for 1060 taxes in, and with the 70 dollars Michelin rebate that puts them under a grand.

not too often you can find a place that beats Costco price by 20%

That’s the extent of my solicited help. As for giving you advice you didn’t ask for.... don’t get duratracs.

Why not duratracs? I runs them studded in the winter and they are great.

duratracs are nice looking tires. They look aggressive so people like them. I thought they were bad in winter and bad on wet roads. A lot of good reviews but the people I have spoken to about them hated them as well.

If you’re running them studded they’re decent on ice, but a proper winter tire would be better. A blizzak without studs would beat it hands down and would ride so much better.

I have used about every kind of tire out there and for me now it’s 10 ply Michelins. I think the Defender is that absolute best tire for 98% of trucks and SUV’s out there. I’ve done lots of off-roading on MS2’s and Defenders. They get traction on anything and the 10 ply version is one of the toughest tires on the market. If you’re not bogging through deep mud, the Defender will perform AMAZINGLY on road year round, and will do well off road too if you’re not going through really slick mud. Around here off road is mostly slick rock and crushed (sharp) shale. If I needed mud tires I’d probably have a set of michelins and a set of crazy mud tires on rims for the odd time I went swamping.

I found BFG and Cooper AT3 much nicer than the duratracs for road manners and wet traction. Neither compares to the michelins for an overall tire, but some people hate the highway tire look.

I’m an old man and I go for safety and function.

I just saw an add for Chrysler,Jeep dealerships doing a 4 tires for the price of 3.
Not bad as long as you know your prices before going in.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I went with Falken Wildpeaks from the Tirecraft dealer in Chemainus.

What size/how much did it cost? I'm shopping for new tires right now, and specifically looking at Wildpeaks

I chose Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 265/75 r16 rated SL
It was $1080 cdn out the door including tax mounting and balancing 4 tires, plus there’s a Falken mail in rebate for $60 (the rebate ends dec 15th). Ask for Nathan. He was very helpful.

St Maxx on Trd pro wheels, mbrp exhaust, k&n cai, jba's, 887's over 5100's, medium dakars and 5125's.
Tirecraft in chemainus do a great alignment, just request Jason to do it. If your used tires still have at least 20-30 percent tread left on them, consider driving 30 seconds up the road to RK tire next time as he will give you minimum 25 bucks a tire on trade if they’re in decent shape.
Paid him $301 a tire for my 265/75/16 st Maxx’s before trade in, but made it worth it selling him my old Ko2’s as there aren’t many used tire shops South Island.

Will they buy used tires without a trade in? I've been trying to unload my old winters and a KO2 on rim that I used as a full sized spare on my last car

And if for some reason he doesn’t bite, try cobble hill tire exchange as a second resort. Just call each place prior with a bit of info on what ya got.
    Good luck

You may be wanting too much, however everyone on marketplace wants something for nothing, it’s a tough ‘market’...

The hardest is my ko2. I paid $380 for it and it's never been on a vehicle. Posted it for $150, open to offers, and the only interest I've had is people who didn't look at the size. No one wants a full size KO2 spare for their family SUV
