Im not really a fan of used tires, but some of these are 90% tread...

I have noticed that quite often the price at the store is the same. Also the website plays and little game with $25 off web savings. Price the same tire at your local store and it will be $25 or more less.

Discount Tire Direct is good if ordering online, but the physical Discount Tire stores are the best -- by far. They are always willing to negotiate on price and will repair any tire for free.

 

Determine the size and tire you want, then find the lowest price you can on the internet, then print it off and take to Discount Tires they will almost always match that price or in most cases beat it. Along with that, they will provide you with lifetime rotation and balancing every 3,000 miles on those tires.

I live in Massachusetts so Discount Tire brick and Mortar is not an option...I am doing my 2010 tacoma access cab 4x4 with 245 75 R16's. I wanted the Michelin LTX M/S 2's but they are no longer manufactured. They are available from some places but only whatever they have in stock and you'll notice more and more people listing them as back ordered or out of stock.
I am getting 245 75 R16 Michelin Defender LTX (M/S) from BJ's tire for $793.08 That includes install, disposal, tax, balance, road hazard warranty and free lifetime rotation (perhaps some other benefits as well) and a $70 instant rebate on sets of 4 Michelin tires..

I costs $876.52 just to deliver them from Discount tire direct. Tire rack is $839.56 delivered. Town Faire Tire is either $815.99 or $951.59 with the install et al.

Town Faire does do a front end alignment but I've read bad things about their service and what not so I am going to spend the $200 after install on an lifetime alignment at Sullivan tire. The tire purchase and install there was over $1000...so that wasn't happening. The firestone lifetime alignment is $189...but the nearest place that does trucks is 30 miles away...so that's 60 miles, 3 gallons of gas...so 1 trip and the cost is wiped. I can go to Sullivan Tire 5 miles away...

I'll have to get the exact tire model #...I read it on their computer screen and cross referenced it with the Michelin tire book they had on hand to be sure I wasn't getting the non- M/S equivalent tire...

I will update after install with whatever added costs arise based on TPS conditions (rust and rot)

 

Probably not the most popular place but I bought my new general grabber at2 from wal-mart. Lowest price I was able to find plus free Shipping to the store for pick up.

 

I've always had good luck with Discount Tire simply politely negotiating my ass off.

 

Tire Rack has always been about 20 dollars per tire better than Discount Tire Direct for me when I buy Michelins
