I have dealt with this issue multiple times, but just had to remove the flares again to try and fix some damage. The plastic clip that holds the retainer broke away from the flares. Previously, I just used a soldering gun and melted the plastic back together which held up okay, but I think there's not enough plastic now for that to work. My buddy swears by JB weld, but I've never used it and there are like 20 different ones on the market. If I go with that JB weld root, which one should I use ? I know they have a plastic epoxy and a bunch of other ones but I have no clue which is best.

JB plastic weld putty works good . Repaired xrunner side skirt (spoiler ) tabs with it . Just clean plastic good . Also believe flares is abs . I also used abs strip with abs glue . It melds into flare so its strong .

    PlasticWeld Epoxy Putty | J-B Weld (jbweld.com)

Arrow shows were abs strip and glue bonded . Solid . Tabs same design as the flares .

Will it stick to the smooth flare pretty well?

The puddy ? Just rough it up (sand) .It stick on good . Abs glue melds into plastic but JB putty easier to work with and sticks really well . Pick up a tube and sand back of flare and try sticking a piece on . I let it dry 1 day to test bonding . I say for that one clean good . Acetone actually melts abs so would be good to clean . Abs glue is actually is abs plasitic with acetone .
I would think for yours sand both flare and clip stick some putty on and position broken tab in position . Just make sure putty doesnt interfere with clip when installed .
I got a xrunner spoiler with broken tab that I can repair so you get the idea .

The same shit everyone else has.
I’d plastic weld it and reinforce it with some sort of epoxy like the above mentioned JB Weld.

Plastic weld? Like with a soldering gun?
