I went with AVS and have no regrets, easy installation and they look great.

I've had weathertech side window deflectors ( in channel ) rain guards on my 2012 Tacoma within months of purchasing it new. They do work by keeping out the rain when cracking windows for ventilation. Durable and robust. High winds to automatic car wash and holding on strong. Highly recommend.

I have the weathertechs and they use a metal spring to hold; no adhesive. I like em... It did take a couple weeks for the auto up to figure out what was going on, I was surprised it adapted.

Not to put anybody on blast but those flat black AVS above on the inferno, woof. :puke:

    AVS In channel for sure.

When you install, make sure you clean the inside channels good. Then after install and rolling up windows, keep windows up for at least a day. Would not have to worry about catching the guard when closing next time.

My AVS ones were fine but many MN winters takes a toll eventually. Had those things for many years.

AVS in-channel here, and I ONLY use in-channel. The other style breaks much easier.

WeatherTech... It took longer to remove the decals than it did to install all four deflectors. I think they look great.

Another for avs in channel low profile flat black. I liked the flush look with the window and the flat black matches good

I had issues in the past where the front corner would get caught on the window and break so after installing I shoved a piece of cardboard on the very front corner to apply more pressure while the tape cures. I haven’t rolled the windows down yet- installed over the weekend

I prefer in channel, I think they look cleaner. You can also remove them, as they do get in the way if you stick your head out the window while driving.

Question for those with a 2nd gen and AVS -
How do they effect wind noise? Better, worse or no difference?

I used the alcohol swabs that were provided. But that would work too. Just cleaning it of dirt so it sticks to surface better.

I used a paper towel and windex. Took a few pieces until they paper towel was coming out clean.
I used the alcohol tab mainly to de-grease once the channel was clean.

In channel Weathertech's. Great quality. I've had them on my last 3 Tacoma's.

I noticed a reduction in wind noise, don’t know if it is from more pressure on the window or more wind deflection.

Sorry to revive an old post, but can anyone living in a cold climate confirm that these keep your windows from sticking shut during cold mornings when there was a lot of moisture in the air? Thanks!
