I have a pair I "Liberated" from the trucking company I used to work for. I suspect you could hang my truck from one of them...

I've used ratchet straps from all the major stores and they always just kinda...sucked. It was recommended that I try MAC'S and I'll never buy another brand again.

If you specifically want to avoid the ratchet look at the Shock Strap. I saw them at Overland Expo, bought a set, and ended up loving them. They're great when you don't need a ratchet.

This is true. I moved twice this spring and noticed you have to be careful with the track tiedowns. I did ratchet a load down pretty good and stopped when I saw the moveable D-ring flexing upward. Never had any problems..

NRS Cam straps. Military grade, very heavy duty. Idiot proof put the free end through the buckle and pull til tight. Not coming loose.

I've been using them for years securing canoes and kayaks onto trailers, they have several offerings now, but never had one fail.

NRS.com is the company home, if you get them off Amazon or similar make sure it's the nrs brand, fair warning the knockoffs do tend to break.

I use these to strap my canoe down to my rack...never come loose.

And use them other times instead of ratchet straps..can easily get just as tight.

I used them to secure 8 panels of mdf board on top of my wife's car. 2 straps, then a HD pro came to advise my against it, then looked at how it was attached said you look like you've done this before. Trying to stop another flying mattress style incident.

    Shock straps are the best!
Ace hardware used to use these on all their frieght trucks securing loads weighing over 6000lbs. I have two older ones and they still work great. I don't bother with rateching straps because I can secure anything just as good with these as I can with ratcheting straps.

Seriously though, they're great and I've beat the crap out of mine and they're still working flawlessly.

I browsed their website and seen they had a stainless option and was sold because I leave my straps in the bed cubby on my truck this is fantastic!! Then they had a soft strap option with s hook. couldn't pass it up. soooo like that dollars just got chucked at it.

+1 on ratchet strap recommendation for the purpose of this thread that is something I use all the time in my truck and having a set on hand I find my self not second guessing what will or will not fly outta the truck bed. Or having them on hand to tie down coolers and camping gear for offroading.

How do you guys store your tie downs? I was using a 5 gallon pail for a while but that seems to be more of a mess than necessary.
I want to keep the 1" straps in their own compartment and maybe jumper cables, a chain or tow strap too. I have been pondering this type of thing:

Are your floor cubbies in the rear being used? That's where I keep all that stuff.
