Hi Tim, idling more than 15 minutes is NOT good for your engine. We've tested how long it takes to get the engine temp to nominal and AC to cold (using Pacific South West/Arizona 120 deg) and Heater to Hot in the north-most part of Canada in subzero temps, each time, it took 7-10 minutes to reach temp. Have you ordered yet? I've PM'd you my personal cell. The best way is to text back and forth until we work out the day and time so that I'm all yours from start to finish. You would just take your trim off prior to our live call.

 

What's max run time?

 

We send'em out with 15 min. HKEY, 15 minutes, no choice. Push to Start, we used to give options for 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 but it became a bottleneck on streamlining outbound shipments from time the is order received to out our doors. Customization held the line up so we no longer offer it. You can always put a request in the notes at checkout, and we can try to accommodate you, but we don't guarantee it. This is done at the time of firmware flash while we still have the order in our possession, meaning it cannot be changed on the consumer level. Another reason we removed this optional request from checkout is because people couldn't make up their minds. So we made it up for them, and chose the best, safest, most ideal number based on field testing. So the way around it now? Remote start your vehicle again, get the smart phone app module so you can watch the count down or restart it again that way, or the most logical method, start your vehicle when you're absolutely almost about to leave. Again, idling is NOT good for your engine. We chose to provide the safest option for your vehicle/engine as we wouldn't want anything on your vehicle causing harm that would cause it on ours. We treat YOUR vehicle and engine like it's OURs. These are not cheap investments (vehicle). We assume you're in it for the long haul. Trust us on this one. If you still feel otherwise, I AM in the business of making people happy and catering to customer needs, I won't debate it at that point. I just want to make sure you're aware of all the repercussions of extended time.

Edit: You can also add it on later. We flash the remote starters to make them future proof because we don't want you to have to send back the unit. Plus we know it's a matter of time when you'll give in. They all do. Sometimes a week, sometimes a couple months...8 out of 10 have given in eventually. That's an actual statistic! I've ran the sales reports and have seen the proportions/percentage of same billing/shipping, different dates! They ALWAYS come around...it's one of the best mods ever from a convenience and cool factor, it is a hot commodity...puns intended.

Thanks for the reply, the main reason I wanted to set it at 30 min is that I want to be able leave my dogs in the truck while I run errands etc. Didn’t know that idling was that bad. Going to research a little more.

If we're talking just the regular remote start that utilizes your OEM FOB for 3x lock to start/stop engine, the range is whatever your FOB can do now, that does not change.

The RF kit add on option give you a half mile range and the draw back is you now have an extra FOB to carry, but it's a 2-way feedback system, meaning your FOB has audible and LED indicators to let you know the presses made it (or not) to the vehicle.

The Smart Module add-on option which I highly recommend and is the most popular add-on here on and off the forums. This module gives you the ability to start/stop your engine, monitor battery voltage, lock/unlock the vehicle, and GPS locate from ANYWHERE in the world so long your vehicle is in good 4G/LTE (or backwards compatible 3G) cellular signal range AND your smart phone has good cellular reception OR decent WiFi. The app tells you if the engine started, shows an engine count down timer until it stops (if you don't get to the vehicle within 15 minutes of triggering), shows the door-lock status and so on. Most folks have their phones on them more then their key FOB especially by their bedside when wondering if they locked the vehicle or not, just check the phone app (free app). Or if you go out of state and doubt yourself, you can always rest assured that you can check, and correct the situation. Sometimes you might be on a high floor at a hotel and just don't remember if you locked it or not, well you won't need to walk down within range to check any longer. Personally, and most folks who have this combination seldom ever use their FOB to start/stop the vehicle unless the key FOB is on them. Under good circumstances, the app is just as responsive/fast as the FOB itself! Best part, all this stuff is universal, take it with you to your next vehicle or take it off on a lease return. Heck, take it off if you don't want the dealer scape-goating since it's pure plug n play!

 

Thats the difference between the competition and us. Ours works anywhere on the Universe/Galaxy...prove me wrong

Edit- ordered on Tuesday, received on Thursday, was a little hesitant about the install, reached out to Jimmy and within a few hours he is personally installing the starter for me. Everything works perfectly. Super cool guy and he really knows his sh*t! Also gave me a peek at one his upcoming projects for the Tacoma, going to be a game changer!!!

 

So Jimmy, I bought a 3x remote start and didn't get the cell add on, think it's too late?

 

I should have added that I didn't get the original from n2. I thought he said something had to be flashed for the add on to work, could be wrong.
