Have a 2019 Tacoma TRD off-road and looking into some rock sliders. I want some ideas for best brands to buy that are not terribly expensive. I am a beginner on the subject. Definitely want bolt ons. Just need to know where to start and which brands I can trust.

Greetings! It would help to know in what general area you are as there may be a good local builder near you who can even help with installation. You might even save shipping costs too.

this may be your most important determining factor.
Best is subjective and you will receive many opinions.

Local is key. Sliders cost $600-800 but LTL freight to ship them is $150-200. So if you can find a local guy, that is the way to go. Even if you buy a weld your self kit and hire a local welder to do them up, you are way ahead.

i got Explore Overland sliders and am very happy.

I was really hoping to stay under $500-600. I know that it doesn't give me the most amazing options but would know any good brands?

Trail Gear sliders are $299 and are ok. They ship cheap because they are partially assembled. You will have to paint them ($60 in rattle cans) and pay a shop to weld them on, probably 2 hours at $100/hr??

That price range means that you really aren't looking for actual rock sliders but just steps. If so, you can go cheaper than that.

Honestly 99% of slider built are seriously overkill. I would watch the for sale section and pick up a used local pair whenever you see one near you. If they are actual sliders(bolt to the frame not the body) you'll be fine

You might luck out keeping an eye on FB marketplace.
I know that @2013XSPX offers good deals, at least from what I’ve seen.
I thought there was a thread on the different sliders with who makes them and location but I can’t find it. Good luck in your search!
@WarFab Armor is reputable and have good looking sliders as well!

I totally forgot about that link, you did some good work putting that together!

Another thing for OP or others to consider is asking if the builder will help you install. One of our local builders in Loma California, @Shmellmopwho, includes free installation as part of his price. He’s a great builder and if someone is near Loma or the greater So Cal area, I would go there!
